The platform is a comprehensive urban grid management system integrating road network facility management, emergency resource management, maintenance plan management, operation monitoring management and emergency management, so as to control the operation status of road network facilities in megacities in real time and comprehensively, and greatly improve the operation and maintenance service level of urban transportation infrastructure. The platform has digitized the documentation of 1,900 km of road, bridge and tunnel infrastructure, deployed the fine management of 10-meter-level road network, managed 5000+ users, 2000+ suppliers, 2000+ professional vehicles and 200+ maintenance bases with mature big data management and decision-making mechanism, processed 5TB of data annually, received 200,000 work orders and handled 100,000 incidents. The data accumulation and management mode has been continuously iterated and optimized. The overall control of urban operation safety, operation efficiency and facility safety state has been improved, the human cost expenditure has been greatly reduced, the management resources and cost input have been optimized, and the digital transformation and high-quality development of urban operation management have been supported.

Introduction: It is a three-dimensional integrated management and control solution of "view, management, and prevention" for the government's road and transportation administration departments, using a new generation of digital twin technology to empower digital innovative applications of facilities and ensure the safety of bridge operation. The system can realize real-time "cloud" management, including universe awareness, intelligent alarm, and cross-department collaboration to improve disposal efficiency, visual control to improve the quality of information communication, optimized deployment of predictive emergency resources to shorten the time of emergency response, and management and maintenance of facilities throughout the life cycle based on state awareness to improve the service quality of facilities. Launched in February 2022, the system was immediately followed and reported by CCTV News and other media. In June 2022, Shanghai Media Group made a documentary about the system on DRAGON TV as an excellent case of improving the modernization of urban governance. In the future, "Cloud Road Center" will continue to upgrade and evolve. On the basis of 1.0, it will actively expand the application scenarios of digital passenger transport supervision and resident travel services, and gradually form a "smart brain" covering the four core areas of road facilities management, transportation service management, dynamic safety supervision and static traffic supervision, so as to enhance the modernization of road transport governance. 

Luanda Angola Stadium, the main stadium of African Nations Cup in 2010 is the largest symbolic architecture in Angola, which occupies 90,000 square meters and is capable of accommodating 50,000 people to watch the game. Since STEC entered Angola market in 2005, we have conducted a series of projects through many years of efforts. In 2008, as the general design construction contractor, STEC took over the work of building Luanda Angola Stadium, the largest single architecture in Angola. The project employs large-span architectural design and the main structure is three-dimensional steel construction extending around, looking like antelope horns on African prairie as a whole. During construction, by means of resource advantage and technical strength in Angola, STEC smoothly solved problems such as complicated structure, tight schedule, high-technical requirement and the shortage of local building materials, in particular lack of water and power supply conditions, thus it received continuous compliments from local governments at all levels and won "The Best Contractor” prize issued by the local government. STEC is the first international general contractor to be received personally by the president in person in Angola history.

The project is signed between STEC and Jiangsu Huai’an government, in the Build-Operate-Transfer mode including investment, design, construction, operation and equity transfer. The total investment of Huai’an tram project is 3.445 billion yuan and the economic indicator is 172 million yuan/km for the main line. Among which a total investment of the tram project is 3.033 billion yuan and its economic indicator is 151 million yuan/km for the main line. The “BOT + Equity Transfer” investment and financing model we use allows the local government to have more flexibility in carrying out the project and balance the budget and cost. The tram, as a ‘new industry’, is also the best alternative for Huai’an government who cannot afford the huge investment in constructing metros. The first phase of Huai’an modern tram is 20.3 kilometers long, all 23 stations are above the ground, and has 4 large underground tunnels, and a depot. Huai’an tram uses a catenary-free power supply which is also the longest catenary-free power supply tramway in China. The tram uses the super capacitor which enables the vehicle to be fully charged in only 30 seconds in the station and a long life cycle of 10 years. In braking, the vehicle’s kinetic energy can be recycled into electrical energy. Huai’an modern tram connects Qinghe District, Huai’an development zone, ecological town, Huai’an District and the city’s commercial center, business center, administrative center, and culture and tourism center, becoming the first tram crossing the city center in China. It provides a reference in tramway construction for other cities, and also motivates the national transport industry towards green and energy-saving development.

The North Cross Channel is a "horizontal" road of Shanghai’s "three vertical and three horizontal" skeleton network. In the early 1990s, constructing highway for the whole line was the plan. However, the huge size of the highway would tear apart the precious city ground space permanently, occupy public space and impact the surrounding community while the underground tunnel scheme had been stalled for years due to too many construction difficulties. In 2014, thanks to the continuous technological innovation in the field of construction, STEC succeeded in making the North Cross Channel an underground one. After commanding the use of large diameter shield and overcoming the building settlement challenge in Yangtze River and the Bund Tunnel, STEC now has the ability to ensure the safety and quality of the tunnel construction with the highest degree of difficulty and risk in the world. During the construction, STEC will push 15.59 meters’ diameter super large shield excavating from downtown Weining Road, continuously crossing the six metro tunnels in operation and 92 buildings in 6.4 kilometers, turning directions with minimum 500 meters’ radius, overcoming the tunnel lining structure, seal, construction risk and many other challenges.  STEC conquered the challenging underground traffic queue in spite of heavy underground traffics and buildings.

Shanghai Yangtze River Tunnel epitomizes the highest technical standard of shield method tunnel construction in the world. The overall length of the tunnel is 8.95 kilometers. We used a slurry balance shield, which is 15.43 meters in diameter, developed and manufactured by STEC and German Herrenknecht AG together, to excavate 7.45 kilometers in the tunnel, 55 meters deep at the bottom of the Yangtze River. This project broke three world records at that time, the largest shield diameter, the longest distance with single excavation, and the deepest buried depth. During the construction of Yangtze River Tunnel, the three major challenges STEC faced were “length, width and depth”. In accordance to the design, construction and disaster prevention of oversize-diameter and extra-long distance shield tunnel under the condition of complicated soft soil stratum, STEC mastered the stability of oversize-diameter shield tunneling and the accuracy of extra-long distance shield tunneling, resolving seven world-class technical difficulties including the synchronous construction technology which prevents the tunnel from floating, overcoming 50 crucial construction problems and furthermore, creating the global standard of extra-large tunnel construction in future cities. Yangtze River Tunnel is also the first shield tunnel adopting all-around stagger assembling craft in our country. STEC manufactured 74,710 pieces of large reinforced concrete segment for its production, and the precise fault margin of which is lowered under 0.5 millimeter, which ensured the quality of the tunnel form.

At present, the Shanghai Yangtze River tunnel has won various domestic tunnel construction awards, including China Civil Engineering Jeme Tien Yow Award, Gold Medal of National Quality projects and others. It also became the first Chinese tunnel project to win "The Tunnel Award" from International Tunneling Association.

With a total length of 15.3 km and a water retention capacity of over 700,000 cubic meters, the deep drainage and storage pipeline system engineering of Suzhou River serves as a key link for Shanghai to systematically develop its in-deep underground space for the first time and to construct "sponge city". The capacity of drainage system along the Suzhou River can be promoted from once every year to once every five years after the whole project is completed. In this way, Shanghai can effectively address the once-in-a-century rainfall and basically eliminate the initial rainwater contamination along the Suzhou River. The Miaopu experimental section undertaken by STEC is as long as 1.61 km. The buried depth of the tunnel will be from 42 m to 60 m. In this experimental section, STEC constructed a round shaft foundation pit as deep as 56.6 m, the deepest foundation pit in soft soil in China. Ultra-deep shaft construction technology is becoming the benchmark for similar projects in the future. It will provide referential significance for the future development and utilization of underground space.

The airport connection line project in urban rail transit line of Shanghai Metro has a total length of 68.6 km and passes through Minhang, Xuhui and Pudong Districts, with 9 stations throughout the line. The project is scheduled to be completed for operation in 2024. At that time, the transit time between Hongqiao Airport and Pudong Airport is expected to be within 40 minutes. The airport connection line project is the first rail transit project that connects the national railway in China. As an east-west fast track connecting Hongqiao hub and Pudong hub, the project contributes to enhancing Shanghai radiation and service functions to the Yangtze River Delta. It provides strong support for Shanghai to improve its urban capacity level and core competitiveness, and to implement the national strategy of integrated development in the Yangtze River Delta. STEC undertook the construction tasks at Sections 3, 4, 5 and 12 in the airport line. They involve difficulties and highlights in ultra-low altitude construction work, super-deep diaphragm construction, ultra-long precipitation, super-large foundation pit construction, ultra-high structure construction, ultra-close crossing, internal assembly construction with fully prefabricated tunnel segments, etc.

The river-crossing tunnel under West Jianning Road, Nanjing begins at the intersection of Xingpu Road and Jiangbei Avenue in Jiangbei New District; its main line, constructed with a bridge over Jiangbei Avenue, ends near the intersection of Jianning West Road and Rehe Road. The route has a total length of about 6,801 m, of which the tunnel section is as long as about 3,550 m (Including opening section), the subgrade section is as long as about 336 m, and the elevated section is as long as about 2,915 m. “Jianning” slurry balance shield tunneling machine with a super large diameter of 15.07 m was adopted for tunnel construction. The shield tunneling machine will penetrate through the Yangtze River levee, Nanjing Metro Line 5 and other sensitive buildings in succession. The construction of river-crossing tunnel under West Jianning Road is of great significance for Nanjing to speed up the construction of Jiangbei New District, improve the capacity of Yangtze River trunk, relieve the traffic pressure of the main city across the Yangtze River, and keeps promoting the regional road network system.

Section B in the westward route extension project of Jihua Road in Foshan is about 5.404 km in its full length. The whole route was constructed under the first-class highway standards in view of urban road functions. The project forms a part of the first-ring road westward expansion strategy of Foshan. It will become a new part of the Guangzhou-Foshan one-hour traffic circle that connects the west wing of Nanhai area, Gaoming, Sanshui with downtown area of Foshan City, and help Foshan to be better integrated into the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.
The controlled westward route extension project of Jihua Road in Foshan undertaken by STEC is a pair of single-layer shield tunnels with six lanes in two directions. The left line of shield tunnel is as long as 1,472 m and the right line is as long as 1,474.202 m. The section under river is as long as 920 m. The “Jihua No.1” shield tunneling machine employed is the first slurry balance shield tunneling machine with a super large diameter in Foshan and the largest one in Guangzhou-Foshan area. It marks an important milestone for the transport infrastructure construction in Foshan.

The Phase Ⅲ reconstruction and expansion project of Shanghai Songshen Water Environment Purification Co., Ltd. is located on the south of the company, the south side of Tongxin Road and the east side of Beimaojing. The construction contents involve the sewage plant and the pipeline for pump station outside the plant. The sewage plant involves the following tasks: Upgrade and reconstruct Phases I and II, and expand the capacity of Phase Ⅲ; the treatment capacity of Phase I and II is 140,000 m3/d; upgrade and reconstruct the current situation of Phases I and II, and reduce the capacity by 20,000 m3/d; the sewage treatment capacity will be expanded by 80,000 m3/d in Phase Ⅲ. After the reconstruction and expansion, the whole plant will receive new actual processing capacity of 60,000 m3/d, and its total processing capacity will be 200,000 m3/d. This will greatly improve the sewage treatment capacity in Songjiang area. The effluent quality will not be lower than Grade A standard. That is of great significance for the water source protection in the upper reaches of Huangpu River, the local ecological environment protection and the livelihood improvement.

Located at the plant with a processing capacity of 500,000 m3/d on the west side of Zhuyuan, Bid ZYSQ 1.3 for Phase IV project of Zhuyuan Sewage Treatment Plant mainly include the following tasks: Construct a new AAO biological reaction tank with a capacity of 500,000 m³, a horizontal sedimentation tank and other buildings / structures; adopt the five-axis mixing pile, the composite steel pipe pile through PC construction method, the UHPC ultra-high performance concrete, and other emerging technologies. In this project, STEC applied the prefabrication and assembly technology on large scale and in large volume for the first time into the field of water utilities engineering. While ensuring the project quality and controlling the project risk, STEC also accumulated important experience for the engineering application of prefabrication technology into the future water utility industry.
Since the commencement, the project department has been awarded many honors, such as Shanghai Civilized Construction Site, Shanghai Green Model Construction Site, Shanghai Five-star Construction Site, Feature Project in Practical Achievements Competition among Major Projects in Shanghai, Excellent Team, etc.

The bid TP1.3 for initial rainwater regulation project of Taopu Sewage Treatment Plant mainly involves the rainwater collection pipeline system on the east side of Zhenjiang Village and at Zhenguang Village, which adopt the construction technologies of shield tunneling method and pipe jacking method.
All of the work shafts in this project are located at the intersections of municipal roads, and surrounded by many communities, busy commercial zones, large traffic flow and complex pipelines. In order to minimize the impact on surroundings, STEC optimized the construction technology and well structure. The project department actively connected with the local stakeholders, optimized the construction site and traffic organization, and substantially reduced the road area occupied by each shaft; the project department also canceled one pipe jacking shaft and two inspection shafts. That eases the surrounding traffic pressure and provides a reliable guarantee for orderly operation of Shanghai Municipality.

The project sees a total investment of about CNY 701 million yuan. Its main construction contents include water intake engineering, water distribution network and water purification plant project. Its water source is located in the main stream of Xiangjiang River at Wanhe Village in Jinghe Township, with a construction length of 34.73 km and a water supply capacity of 100,000 m³/d.
Since the full commencement of Xiangyin Water Supply Plant project on March 6th, 2021, the project team confronted many difficulties, such as large workload, multiple units and tight construction period. They deployed the backbone, remained on the construction site, and successively overcame a series of difficult nodes, such as temporary land acquisition, river crossing, house demolition and relocation, and operation under high-voltage power lines.Upon its operation, the project will comprehensively increase the water supply quality and capacity in urban and rural areas of Xiangyin, promote the penetration rate of rural tap water, and enhance the weak link in drinking water facilities of Xiangxian County. The project will also reinforce the ability to ensure safe drinking water so that 400,000 urban and rural residents in Xiangyin can drink safe water. As a key livelihood project in the urban and rural water supply integration strategy, the project will play a crucial role in coordinating urban and rural development and accelerating rural revitalization in Xiangyin.

The 2021 comprehensive small watershed improvement project for clean eco-system in Huinan Town involves five aspects, namely river and lake system treatment, non-point source contamination control, comprehensive prevention and control of soil and water loss, ecological restoration, and living environment improvement. It mainly covers 80 reaches of river courses in Huinan Xiaohuangpu and Laogang River, 10 groups and 1 tributary in Yuandong, 5 groups and 1 tributary in Yuandong, etc.
The project team adopted water reoxygenation technology to aerate the river course. By improving the ecological environment in the local waters, the team restored the aerobic microbial community and thus ensured the survival of plankton and fish. By virtue of the biological seine technology and the principle of biological pollution control, plants were able to absorb nutrients in the water and to form biofilms to purify water. The team adopted biological seine as a framework to control the growth area of plants so as to avoid the secondary contamination caused by floating plants growing uncontrollably in the water. They employed a plant-floating bed technique, and planted aquatic plants, such as reeds, on the water surface. Those plants are effective in suppressing phytoplankton, improving water transparency, and lowering COD. While purifying water, they can create habitats for birds, fish and other living beings, and improving the landscape.
The comprehensive small watershed improvement project for clean eco-system works as an important basic project for the local government to implement the rural revitalization strategy. It is of great significance to prevent and control soil erosion, promote ecological restoration and protection of rivers and lakes, improve overall agricultural productivity, facilitate the development in green industry, and construct the rural development pattern of harmonious co-existence between man and nature.

Channel improvement of Chuangxin River in Zhangjiabang Wedge Green Belt (Cuibai Road - Niuqiao Port) and Niuqiao Port (Majiabang - Guanglan Road) is located in Jingang Road of Pudong New Area. The improvement center covers a total length of 1,152 m, among which the length of channel to be improved in the Chuangxin River is 529.2 m. The reach starts from Cuibai Road in the north and ends at Niuqiao Port in the south. The length of channel to be improved in Niuqiao Port is 622.8 m, which starts from Majiabang and ends at Guanglan Road. In this project, STEC constructed about 2, 300-meter revetment, 3,000-meter flood control channel and 13,800-square-meter green space.
The improved Chuangxin River in Zhangjiabang Wedge Green Belt and river channel at Niuqiao Port demonstrate the unique landscape charm of ecological banks with their brilliant ecological appearance. Meanwhile, the project can revitalize the regional water systems, create a natural, comfortable and pleasant river landscape, and further improve the regional capacity for flood control, water logging removal, irrigation regulation and storage. It not only enhances the natural environment on the surrounding land but also "refresh" the life of local residents.

The sewage connection project between Zhuyuan and Bailong Port involves a new 19-km inter-plant pipeline with a capacity of 800,000 m3/d and two new terminal lift pump stations. The project connects the Bailong Port Sewage Treatment Plant and Zhuyuan Sewage Treatment Plant via pipeline and pump station so as to realize the complementary capacity between sewage treatment facilities in this region. The project, upon its completion, can connect two sewage treatment systems in Zhuyuan and Bailong Port. It can play multiple functions, such as cross-area emergency dispatch and water allocation, and enhance the functional resilience of sewage transmission and treatment system.
In the sewage connection project ZB1.2 (pipeline engineering) between Zhuyuan and Bailong Port, a new pipeline of 9,142 m was newly constructed. The longest jacking path is 1,057.5 m. The project penetrates 11 bridges, 2 high-pressure gas pipes, 2 overpasses in Gaodong, 1 water pipe at Qingcaosha and 1 aviation gas pipe. During the jacking process, the advanced non-constant flow simulation technology with full conservation of mass was adopted to overcome the technical difficulty in intermittent operation of gas-liquid two-phase flow. Simultaneously, the pipeline structure health monitoring system was used to conduct on-line monitoring for pipelines with large diameter and long conveyance distance so that the pipeline structure status can be perceived accurately.

The project is located at Gaoming District, Foshan City, Guangdong Province, and covers a total area of 6, 961.8 m2. Centering on the development theme of “energy + technology towards carbon neutrality”, the project creates an integrated station for hydrogen production from natural gas and in-station hydrogen refueling. Among them, the hydrogen production module adopts the first set of skid-mounted natural gas-hydrogen production facility in China with independent intellectual property rights. It is designed to construct a comprehensive energy supply station integrating natural gas hydrogen production, photovoltaic power generation coupled with water electrolysis hydrogen production, hydrogen refueling, gas feeding and other functions.
In December 2021, the natural gas-hydrogen production facility successfully produced highly pure hydrogen, with the highest hydrogen purity up to 99.999% worldwide. In August 2022, the Phase I of the project was officially put into operation. It has filled the gap in the domestic industry and been reported with a feature story by CCTV news channel.

The project mainly includes the gasoline and natural gas (LNG) refueling unit and the hydrogen refueling and natural gas (CNG) refueling unit. The project include the principal technology of a jointly constructed station as well as the civil, electrical, automatic control, water supply and drainage, fire and other relevant public supporting facilities. The station can provide refueling services for 20 new energy vehicles simultaneously, and thus form a four-in-one three-dimensional energy services for “hydrogen refueling, LNG refueling, gasoline refueling and recharging”. The project adopts the construction mode that integrates multiple stations. In addition to its intensive land usage, it is also featured by its high efficiency, green attribute and friendliness. It explores a development path of organic integration of charging station and traditional refueling and natural gas station. The project will accelerate the development in new energy vehicle industry and strive to become an energy demonstration case that can be replicated and promoted, so as to accumulate experience for similar projects in the future.
The project succeeds in "three firsts", namely the first “primary (station) with standard (station)” project for compressed natural gas station in China, the first integrated gasoline, natural gas, hydrogen and electricity energy project in Jiangsu Province, and the first mounted (overhead) refueling project in Jiangsu Province.

This project works as a supporting equipment of the supporting facilities for hydrogen supply and storage for pilot production line with an annual capacity of 1,000 sets of fuel cell bipolar plates and cell stacks of Ningbo Lvdong Fuel Cell Co., Ltd. under SPIC. The project comprises new supporting facilities for hydrogen supply and storage that provides 35-MPa high-pressure hydrogen refueling service. Its daily hydrogen refueling capacity is 500 kg and can meet the refueling demands of 20 buses with hydrogen fuel cells. The project is located at the SPIC Hydrogen Energy Industry Project Base in Cidong Binhai Economic Development Zone, Longshan Town, Cixi City. The station adopts a non-fixed cylinder pack assembly and the dual external transmission scheme of direct pipeline supply and vehicle refueling. It has the advantages of less land, low construction costs, good security, small staffing and low operation costs. The fuel cell pilot production line project serves as not only a key initiative for SPIC to respond to the national hydrogen energy strategy and to open up the hydrogen energy industry chain, but also the concrete embodiment of the "three innovations" and “industrialization, marketization and scale expansion” of the hydrogen energy strategy implemented by STEC Shanghai Energy Construction Group Co., Ltd.

This project is a key project for the joint development in hydrogen energy by Petro China and Shanghai Shenneng Group. It is a demonstration station and benchmark station for hydrogen energy utilization in Lingang New Area of Shanghai. The project is located on the north of the intersection between Pingxiao Road and Zhenglang Road in Lingang New Area, Situan Town, Fengxian District, Shanghai Municipality, covering an area of 2,900 m2. The hydrogen system of this project adopts the design of 50-MPa hydrogen storage and distribution. The hydrogen storage scale is 800 kg. It adopts a dual machine refueling mechanism. The gasoline refueling system adopts four sets of 30-m3 vacuum dual capacity pipe and four machine dual fuel and four-gun scheme. The station is also established with two fast charging parking lots. The project has the advantages of small footprint, good economic benefits, energy saving and environmental friendliness. The successful operation of this project not only improves the standardized management level of STEC Shanghai Energy Construction Group Co., Ltd. but also provides high-quality engineering design and management services for Petro China and Shanghai Sheneng.

Located in Foshan City, Guangdong Province, the project comprises a pipeline as long as about 23 km, the expansion of Xiqiao pressure-regulating station, and the construction of Jinben pressure-regulating station. The total investment of this bid section is about CNY 525.16 million yuan. The project will be connected with the existing high-pressure pipe network system in Foshan, so as to construct a north-south gas transmission channel and to connect the downstream urban medium-pressure transmission and distribution system. The project will meet the gas demand from various urban gas users in this region, strengthen the stability and security of gas supply, and facilitate the development in low-carbon energy.

The designed daily hydrogen refueling capacity of the project is 1000 kg. The project has been constructed in two phases. Phase I hydrogen refueling station saw a total investment of CNY 12 million yuan and covered an area of about 4,000 m2, which includes compressor, hydrogen storage cylinder, hydrogen refueling machine, water chiller and other devices. This project has acquired the first Hydrogen Cylinder Refilling License among hydrogen refueling stations in Qingdao City, and been the first completed hydrogen refueling station at a port in China at present. The project has gone through all the completion acceptance and qualification procedures for planning and fire control, and been operated under full qualification and license. This station, upon its operation, has successfully met the demand from vehicles for hydrogen refueling in Qianwan Port Area of Qingdao Port in Shandong Province. It plays an demonstrative and leading role in the construction of "hydrogen port in China".

Located in Longgang District of Shenzhen City, the project covers 8 sub-districts, 44 sub-projects, 114,000 households and a total investment of about CNY 795.552 million yuan. The project, upon its completion, has laid a solid foundation for Longgang District to achieve the goal of eliminating gas cylinders by the end of 2023.

The phase II project of supporting utility tunnel for ethylene project in Hainan Yangpu Petrochemical Functional Zone is located in the road network area for ethylene project to the northwest of Yangpu Port. The project was designed to cover the utility tunnel works on the Yuanyi Road, Yuaner Road, Yuansi Road and Pusi Road. The utility tunnel is as long as about 7.2 km and as wide as about 6 to 9 m. It covers a total area of about 75,400 ㎡. It adopts a form of four-story steel structure truss. The project is divided into four parts. The first part extends from the intersection between Binhai Road and Yuanyi Road to the intersection of Pusi Road along the direction of Yuanyi Road; the second part extends from the intersection between Binhai Road and Yuaner Road to the Carbon 5 carbon 9 project along Yuaner Road; the third part extends from the intersection between Pusi Road and Yuansi Road to the thermal power plant along Yuansi Road; The fourth part extends from the intersection between Pusi Road and Yuanyi Road to the intersection of Yuansi Road. The project includes the utility tunnel engineering and its public grounding, the public weak current work, the video surveillance, the anti-collision facilities, and other ancillary facilities for utility tunnel.

The Project of supporting facilities for infrastructure and Zone C of New Display Industrial Park in Mianyang City serves as one of the special parks in the Three-year Action Plan for Cultivation and Development of 5+1 Key Special Parks in Sichuan Province. It works as the driving force for the development of economy and society in Mianyang High-tech Zone.
The project is located in Shiqiaopu and on the east of the High-tech Zone and the south of the Anchang River. Its traffic location is superior, with 6 km away from either the main city or Nanjiao airport, and 3 km away from Mianyang Station. The total planning area of the project is 352,937.106 m2 and the total construction area is 453,945.23 m2. This project comprises 22 buildings and its construction content mainly includes the new standard plant, the production and R&D office buildings, the research and training building, the supporting rooms, the outdoor landscape, the road and relevant supporting facilities.

Located in Huashan District, Yueyang City, the project of outpatient, emergency rescue and medical technology complex of Yueyang Central Hospital was constructed with a total area of 213,151.33 m2, 2 floors underground, 5 floors above ground, and a total building height of 23.95 m. The structural form adopts the framework structure; the foundation is made of lower column pier and raft foundation; the raft is as thick as 600 mm. The basement structure is 329 m long from east to west and 298 m wide from north to south. The structure was divided into 25 casting blocks by a retractable post-casting belt with a length of 6,000 m. The project department reduces the post-pouring belt by over 2,000 m through jump warehouse method. They have overcome many difficulties, such as the construction with ultra-long structure, the difficult seepage prevention due to the deep and large foundation pit, the difficult construction organization and control due to small construction site, and the tight schedule.
The project of the central hospital has promoted the development in medical and health undertakings in Yueyang City. It has deepened the reform in the medical and health system, optimized the allocation of medical and health resources, and improved the resource utilization efficiency. It meets the demands at different levels from the masses for medical and health services, and protects peoples health in an all-round and full-cycle manner.

The PPP project for integrated traffic hub of Wenling Station is located at the Railway New District of Wenling City, Zhejiang Province, with a total construction area of 108,800 m2. The project mainly includes four sub-projects: The east square hub, the supporting housing for rail transit, the bus transfer center and the parking building.
Facing the challenges like the wide work plane, the large volume of steel structure and the great number of buildings / structures, STEC made early plans and careful preparation. It escorted the construction of steel structure through early survey, GPS positioning, BIM simulation, advance deepening and refining of steel structure process. During the construction of deep foundation pit, STEC actively dealt with complex geological conditions, difficult support, super typhoon and other adverse factors. Thus, it ensured that the land subsidence, the maximum settlement of ramp pier and station pier column were in their controllable ranges, and guaranteed the safe operation of railway. STEC has made joint and practical efforts to construct a new traffic pattern and secured the largest and most beautiful city entrance for Wenling.

As the first tram in Zhejiang Province, the Jiaxing Tram Project is one of the "one hundred key projects in one hundred years" and one of the ten landmark projects of Jiaxing City. It is also a major transportation facility project for Jiaxing to implement the national strategy of Yangtze River Delta integration and construct a central hub city in the core area of the Yangtze River Delta.
The Phase I project passes through 49 intersections along the way, including 27 signalized intersections and 22 non-signalized intersections. The average interval between intersections along the route is relatively close, basically 318 m to be specific. Phase I passes through 16 large and small bridges and under nearly 1 km of railways, and sees complex construction environment. The large engineering volume involves many different professional contents, such as sub-grade, bridge, track, road, drainage, greening, underground structure, housing construction, power supply, communication, operation and dispatching, geomantic electricity and escalator, intelligent building, intelligent transportation, ticket sales system, process equipment, etc.
It only took 370 days for STEC to open the first section of Jiaxing Tram. This speed has broken the conventional domestic tram construction schedule, and set a new benchmark for similar tram construction projects.

Nanjing Metro Line 5 serves as a key line from southeast to northwest in Nanjing rail transit network and is positioned as an urban trunk line. The line covers a total length of 37.4 km and has 30 underground stations. Among them, 14 are transfer stations. The line is the "king of transfer stations". There are a total of 10 bidding sections for the whole line, of which 6 are contracted by STEC. They mainly comprise 21 stations, 22 shield sections and other ancillary structures.
Nanjing Metro Line 5 has been constructed under multiple difficulties. First, the stratum conditions are complex and changeable, with intersecting floodplain, sentry and other landforms. Sand layer, pebble layer and clay layer often interact with each other; non-layered structure is obvious, and formation pinching is everywhere. Second, there are dense surrounding buildings along the line, of which most are protective buildings, cultural relics, greening zones. They set high requirements on protection measures. Third, the shield tunneling machine passes under the two operating subway lines, penetrates through important buildings, structures, roads, bridges, rivers and other complex and high-risk areas, setting high requirements on protection measures and standards.

The first bid section of Phase I Project of Fuzhou Metro Line 4 is about 9.57 kilometers in length and located in Cangshan and Gulou Districts of Fuzhou City. It contains 8 stations, 9 intervals, 1 exit and entry line, and Hongtang depot. All of the 8 stations in this section are underground island stations, among which Jinniushan Station and Dongjiekou Station are three-storey underground stations, and the rest are two-storey underground stations. The interval tunnel has an outer diameter of 6.2 m and an internal diameter of 5.5 m. North Baima Road Station, Dongjiekou Station and Provincial Hospital Station are all constructed through full-cover reverse digging method. Fuzhou Metro Line 4 forms a part of the northeast half of the combined main urban ring of Fuzhou. The project is of great significance for Fuzhou to open the urban architecture, support the urban development, and facilitate the development in the Convention and Exhibition Center and Yixu areas.

Shanghai-Nantong Railway Phase II (Section from Taicang to Situan) starts from Taicang Station in the north and ends at Situan Station in the south. It passes through Taicang City under Suzhou City, Jiangsu Province, and Jiading District, Baoshan District, Pudong New Area and Fengxian District in Shanghai. The line has a total length of 111.8 km.
Among them, Wusongkou Yangtze River Tunnel (Bids HTZQⅡ-4 and HTZQⅡ-1) is the control project for Shanghai-Nantong Railway Phase II. The total mileage of the main line of the project is DK140+700 ~ DK151+485, with a total length of 10.785 km, of which the shield tunnel section is as long as 9.047 km (The section cross the Huangpu River and the Yangtze River is 4.7 km, and the land section is 4.347 km).
STEC adopts the independently developed shield tunneling machine with a large diameter of 10.690 m. It will be tested by the curve starting line, the shallow soil covering and the continuous crossing of Jiangdong Road and G1503 Belt Expressway. Next, it will directly face a series of extreme challenges posed by many buildings and structures: Penetrate under the Pudong tunnel section along the river, Binjiang Forest Park, Huangpu River Levee and Wusong Jetty; cross the international cruise terminal and the public security wharf; penetrate through the small sand back box culver, the Yangtze River Embankment and the pump station of the 14th district of Shanghai Port; penetrate under the wind channel of tunnel along the river, the Puxi open section, the overpass of tunnel along the river, the elevated Line 3 and the viaduct on Tongji Road. The minimum turning radius of shield tunneling machine is 778 m. During the long-distance excavation construction, the top priority is to maintain the micro-disturbance to surroundings.
On June 27th, 2022, the launching ceremony for "Huchi" and "Tongcheng" shield tunneling machines on the Shanghai-Nantong Railway marked that Wusongkou Yangtze River Tunnel Project for Shanghai-Nantong Railway Phase II officially entered a new chapter for shield tunneling construction.

Section II (Shaodu Road - Guangyuan Avenue section) of Yunfei Road Phase II (Shaodu Road - Middle Hongtang Road) project covers a total length of 1670.56 m. The main construction comprises road engineering, operation maintenance engineering, drainage engineering, bridge engineering, etc. The section II of civil engineering construction of Yaojiang New Area Utility Tunnel Phase I (Yunfei Road) is a trunk-type comprehensive utility tunnel established under the sidewalk, the non-motor lane and the separation belt (biological retention zone) on the north side of Yunfei Road.
This project belongs to the joint construction of road and utility tunnel, which has the following difficulties. First, the excavation depth of utility tunnel foundation pit should be 5 to 10 m; the tunnel crosses 3 rivers in total so the foundation pit must be excavated with safety. Second, the waterproof grade for tunnel in this project is grade two so the main body of the project has a high waterproof requirement.
After completion, the project will drive the development in Yaojiang New Area and promote the new urbanization and the modernized urban construction in Yaojiang New Area. It will improve the comprehensive carrying capacity of urban infrastructure and facilitate the comprehensive utilization of underground space resources.

Shenkun Road parking lot and comprehensive upper cover development project is an integrated TOD development project containing municipal railway, urban rail transit, medium volume bus, business community development and other functions. It is not only an important hub project for the comprehensive transportation development in Shanghai during the “14th Five-Year Plan” period and the "Five New Cities" comprehensive transportation system framework, but also another crucial connectivity project for the Yangtze River Delta integration and Hongqiao International Open Hub strategies.
The project is located in the core area of Shenkun Road, the "South Gate" of Shanghai Hongqiao International Open Hub, with a total construction area of over 500,000 m2. It is close to Hongqiao traffic hub in the north, adjacent to the completed Huaxiang green land in the west, and located at the intersection node between airport contact line and Jiamin Line. It serves as a crucial node for the near Shanghai area to access the municipal railway network in the future.

In this project, the world-leading VSM sinking shaft tunneling technology is adopted to "dig" a three-dimensional space for 200 small vehicles in a narrow area of 390 m2. On average, it takes only 1.95 m2 of ground space to park one vehicle. Citizens can gain access to their vehicles via the landscape entrance and exit on the ground. It takes them as little as 90 s to receive a high-quality parking experience. This project provides experience and reference for the intensive use of urban land resources, the development and utilization of underground space, and the expansion of effective supply of parking facilities.
The UP intelligent parking scheme proposed by STEC conforms to the development trends, such as "smart city" and “Internet +”, and fully draws on the experience and exploration on domestic and foreign solutions for parking difficulties. Public hot spots, such as downtown areas, see large flow of people and vehicles, dense layout of old buildings and tight surrounding land resources. The Lankao County of Kaifeng City and Fengqiu County of Xinxiang City in Henan Province starts from Lankao County, crosses the Yellow River to the west, and ends in Fengqiu County, with a total length of 30.263 km. The main line of the project adopts the expressway standards with six lanes in two directions, a subgrade width of 34.5 m, a design speed of 120 km/h. The Yellow River Bridge is as long as 9.104 km.
The maximum height of the main tower of the Yellow River Bridge is 160.5 m, with high spatial positioning accuracy and difficult line-type control. The foundation pile adopts the pile foundation with super depth and super large diameter (as deep as 106 m). The generous amount of concrete construction underwater tests STECs delicacy management. The subbridge superstructure of the Yellow River Bridge in this project adopts the whole hole erection of 100-m span steel concrete composite beam. This technology is another innovative breakthrough after the whole hole erection process of 80-m span steel beam of Mengzhou Yellow River Bridge in China. It will form a new achievement in bridge equipment research and development and installation technology.
The project serves as a key construction project of “13445” expressway engineering in Henan Province. Upon its completion, the project is of great significance for China to facilitate the strategy of the rise of central China, accelerate the development in "Central Henan Urban Agglomeration", promote the Zhengzhou metropolitan area, and advance the high-quality development in the Yellow River Basin.

Anyang-Luoshan Expressway is one of the 16 north-south vertical channels in the Henan Province Expressway Network Planning (2021-2035), connecting 9 cities and 16 counties in Henan Province. Upon its completion, the project will form a new vertical channel between the Beijing-Hong Kong-Macao Expressway and the Daqing-Guangzhou Expressway. It will connect the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei urban agglomeration and Xiongan New Area in the north and the urban agglomeration in the middle reaches of the Yangtze River in the south. The project is of great significance for China to further strengthen inter-regional economic integration and relieve the traffic pressure on the Beijing-Hong Kong-Macao Expressway.
Covering a total length of 38.9 km, Bid SG-4 of the Yuan-Hebei provincial boundary to Yuanyang section (Lankao-Yuanyang Expressway) of the Anyang-Luoshan Expressway involves 1 hub, 3 interconnections, 1 service zone, 51 channels, 33 box culverts and 54 bridges. The standard design of the project is six lanes in two directions; the design speed is 120 km/h and the pavement width is 34.5 m. Builders have vigorously promoted the implementation and application of emerging technologies of smart construction site in Anyang-Luoshan Expressway project. The intelligent control has efficiently facilitated project construction. STEC introduces intelligent prefabricated box girder workshop and uses the independently developed bridge prefabricated component production information management platform so as to ensure that component production information can be tracked throughout the process and the quality can be controlled. Pavement construction information system assists the construction and thus realizes intelligent identification of pavement construction status and quality. In this way, the system promotes the integration mode of factory production, information management and intelligent control.

The PPP project of connection line between Hangzhou-Jinhua-Quzhou Expressway to Hangzhou-Shaoxing-Taizhou Expressway is jointly undertaken by Zhejiang Communications Investment Co., Ltd., Zhejiang Communications Engineering Co., Ltd., STEC Shanghai Infrastructure Co., LTD., and Shanghai Road and Bridge Co., Ltd. The project starts from the north side of Zhangjiafan Hub of Hangzhou-Jinhua-Quzhou Expressway and ends at Fuquan Hub of Hangzhou-Shaoxing-Taizhou Expressway. The route is as long as 22.028 km. The main construction tasks involve subgrade, bridge, culvert, tunnel, pavement, traffic safety, afforestation, etc.
The connection line of Hangzhou-Jinhua-Quzhou Expressway forms an important part of expressway network in Zhejiang Province. It is not only the main fast channel connecting Hangzhou and Shaoxing but also a key channel for Shaoxing City to integrate into Hangzhou metropolitan area and to realize the integration of three districts. Simultaneously, it is also an important link of the outer ring expressway of Keqiao District, Shaoxing City.

It will enhance the Henan-Hebei transportation corridor, improve the layout of regional road network, and strengthen the connection between North Henan and Zhengzhou metropolitan road network.
The Bid AHTJ-3 of Anyang-Hebi section of Anyang-Xinxiang Expressway is as long as 18.84 km. The bid involves 16 bridges, 3 middle bridges, 3 overpasses, 29 culverts, and 2 medium and long tunnels, with the bridge-tunnel ratio over 40%. This project, an important section of the highway network planning in Henan Province (2021-2025), will further improve the “米+井+人” shaped integrated transportation corridor in Henan Province upon its completion. It plays a significant role in solving the expressway connection between Anyang and Hebi and promoting the regional economic development.

The research achievement on the full-life-cycle operation and maintenance project of Wenyi Road Tunnel have been highly praised by industrial experts and fully approved by Hangzhou Municipal Government. The relevant operation standards have been incorporated into the local standard of the Technical Code for Urban Tunnel Maintenance in Zhejiang Province.

Dalian Road Tunnel is the first cross-river tunnel constructed by “BOT” method in Shanghai. Completed and opened to traffic on September 29th, 2003, the important cross-river channel connects the North Bund and the Lujiazui Financial and Trade Zone. Its entrance in Puxi is located around the intersection between Dalian Road and Huoshan Road and its entrance in Pudong is located around the intersection between Dongfang Road and Rushan Road. The whole line is adjacent to Line 4. Since 2017, STEC Urban Operation has officially introduced the OSM on-site management system in the Dalian Road tunnel by comprehensively upgrading the original resource management module and adding “service management” and “safety management”. Additionally, it has further refined the operation and maintenance specifications, customized three standard manuals according to the actual operation and maintenance situations, thus substantially promoting the fine management. As a result, it has won the honor of “the Team for Trustworthy Municipal Engineering Quality” issued by the China Municipal Association. Taking Shanghai Dalian Road Tunnel that has been constructed for almost 20 years as its first case, STEC Urban Operation promotes the implementation of full-life-cycle management mode on the built facilities. It has widely applied advanced technologies and devices like automatic tunnel inspection robot and “BIM technology” to accumulating a strong impetus for Dalian Road Tunnel on the road of wisdom, innovation and breakthrough.

The Third Minhang-Pudong Bridge works as one of the crucial north-south trunk roads connecting Minhang, Fengxian and Jinshan districts in the road network planning of Shanghai. With its main pier in the center of the Huangpu River channel, the Bridge serves as a two-way six-lane secondary road. The cross section of its main beam adopts a cross-bedded layer of fast lane and slow lane. Sixteen large elevators are installed on both sides of the bridge for pedestrians and non-motor vehicles to cross the river. STEC Urban Operation takes the Third Minhang-Pudong Bridge, the first newly built cross-river bridge with “full life cycle” in China, as the demonstrative project, and conducts researches on operation data standards, operation status evaluation, scientific decision-making maintenance, policy guarantee mechanism, etc. Through the real-time monitoring that covers the entire facility operation, the company regards the data collection and evaluation as its core, and takes the standard specifications, information fusion, accurate evaluation and scientific decision-making as means to build the “full-life-cycle intelligent operation and management platform” for cross-river bridge. It practices the full-life-cycle operation and management mode for bridge facilities with the “traceable log, the controllable current situation and the predictable future trend”; it improves scientific decision-making and fine management, and ensures the operation safety and service function of the bridge, so as to help realize the digitized transformation and upgrading of bridge operation and maintenance.

G15 Jialiu Expressway works as a crucial access to both Taicang and Nantong. It runs through the north and south of Jiading Industrial Zone, and undertaking most of the logistics and transportation tasks among those important cities along the Yangtze River Delta. In view of G15 Jialiu Expressway featuring the “large traffic flow, interweaving and logistics”, the integrative “construction-operation” management mode has been adopted for the first time. STEC Urban Operation mainly undertakes the functions of traffic organization and emergency support, and builds “one platform and three sets of systems” around the overall goal of “dual improvement and dual fall” (That is, to improve the efficiency of facility access and emergency support, and to reduce the probability of traffic accidents and the impact from maintenance work on traffic). Among them, one platform is the “all-factor full-cycle integrative management platform”. The three sets of systems are “the precise traffic flow control system on the lane level”, “the full-life-cycle intelligent expressway management system under new infrastructure” and “the intelligent expressway operation system under new infrastructure”. In this way, the company has been dedicated to creating the first “digital twin” smart expressway in Shanghai.

With its focus on urban digitized transformation and its reliance on the unified network management over urban operation in Shanghai, STEC Urban Operation has created the first domestic intelligent operation and management platform for transportation infrastructure at the urban level. The platform covers all types of facilities, such as roads, bridges and tunnels. It has been divided into six modules, namely “operation, maintenance, evaluation, inspection, supervision and decision-making”. It focuses on four core businesses, namely the rapid response to emergencies, the emergency linkage during severe weather, the digital supervision over daily operation and the evaluation on facility safety. By virtue of this platform, the company has realized the comprehensive awareness of transportation infrastructure situation, the intelligent trend prediction, the overall planning and scheduling of resources, and the human-machine collaboration of action. The platform has facilitated the transformation of infrastructure operation and management from human-intensive labor to human-computer interaction, from operation judgment to data analysis, and from passive disposal to active discovery. Currently, the platform has been connected to the Shanghai Urban Operation Center so as to ensure the safe and orderly urban operation.

STEC Urban Operation won the first package of municipal public facility management service project in Lingang Special Area of Shanghai in July 2020. Subsequently, the company successively won the bid for the Lingang underground pipe corridor project, the comprehensive maintenance project of urban branch roads in Nicheng Town, and the daily maintenance project of rural roads in Nicheng Town. According to the region-based and specialty-oriented management concept, STEC Urban Operation takes grid block as the basic management unit, and integrates the concept on digital twin to establish an operation and management platform for regional road network in Lingang. The company has effectively optimized the operation, maintenance and management processes by establishing all-factor digitized assets of urban roads, and thus realized the integrated operation and maintenance mode covering municipal administration, environmental health, greening, water supply and illumination. It has aggregated and managed the huge and scattered details to form an integrated operation, maintenance, management and control system. With more intelligent and active services, the company thus has built the Lingang Special Area into a new benchmark for livable and feasible smart city operation.

On August 29th, 2020, STEC Urban Operation successfully entered the airport sector by winning the bid for “the flight zone and other facilities operation and maintenance project of Shanghai Hongqiao International Airport”. Hongqiao Airport flight zone project covers an area about 6 km2 and mainly includes various pavement maintenance, sporadic maintenance of buildings and properties and the sporadic facility maintenance. STEC Urban Operation will continue underpinning its foundation of intelligent operation and maintenance, centering on its core business of rail transit and bridge maintenance and management, and creating a complete product and service chain including renewal and information businesses, so as to gradually form a new mode for airport zone management in the future.

Shanghai Rail Transit Line 18 works as a north-south tangential line running through the eastern part of Shanghai, which was opened at the end of 2020. It runs through the hinterland of Baoshan, Yangpu, Pudong and other districts, and adopts six-section A-type driver-less trains with a maximum speed at 80 km/h.
The subway station maintenance project covers 36.9 operative kilometers and 26 stations, of which 9 are transfer stations. Serving as the main management principal for station maintenance on the Line 18, STEC Urban Operation takes charge of the operation and maintenance of conventional station structure, ventilation, water supply and electricity systems of Line 18 by comprehensive and intensive property management mode. The company is responsible for the overall operation by contracting labor and materials and cuts the total population for those production tasks by 25%. Simultaneously, it has actively cooperated with the owner to establish the 24-hour command center and configure professional dispatchers, thus laying a good foundation through digital empowerment for the digitized control era of integrated property management over rail transit stations.

The Fourth Ring Line and Dahe Road Rapid Engineering PPP Project is the first highway PPP project in Henan Province undertaken by STEC Urban Operation. The East Fourth Ring road section covers a total length of 17.828 km, starts from Dahe Road in the north and ends at the South Fourth Ring Road in the south. The project passes through Jinshui District, Zhengdong New Area and Economic Development Zone of Zhengzhou City. The road is graded as urban expressway and the design speed of its main line is 80 km/h. The operation and maintenance tasks include but are not limited to the daily operation, repair, cleaning, inspection, maintenance of road engineering, bridge engineering, rain and sewage engineering, greening engineering, illumination and landscape facilities, ancillary facilities, traffic safety facilities, railway construction projects, etc., the project overhaul, and other operation and maintenance required by Party A.
Currently, the combined management and maintenance platform for East Fourth Ring has realized a full-view maintenance mode via one screen. It fits the current maintenance mode in two application scenarios of both daily and emergency command. The company is committed to creating the bright spot of the East Fourth Ring Road maintenance work through this platform, so as to create a benchmark of “intelligent operation and maintenance” in the maintenance and construction industry and to improve both fine and intelligent management.

STEC Urban Operation is operating, managing and maintaining about 148 km of highway, 3.86 km2 of highway greening, water sprinkling and cleaning in Jiashan. From 2021 to 2024, the integrated digital highway operation and maintenance project of Jiashan County will realize the fully integrated digital operation and management from facility assets, operation status and operation process to assessment through the comprehensive management by central platform + digital operation + resource coordination. The project will achieve the main purpose of “one screen for facilities, one network for operation and management, and dynamic risk prevention”. Through this project, the company will implement the full-life-cycle management over transportation facilities and create a national demonstration of digital transportation.
STEC Urban Operation is making innovations in the maintenance and management mode and deepening the reform in highway maintenance system, so as to comprehensively facilitate the high-quality development in highway and transportation management. The company is sparing no effort to underpin the digitized foundation for comprehensive management and maintenance of rural highway facilities, actively create a typical scenario for information-based operation, maintenance and management businesses, and improve the efficiency and level of intelligent rural highway services. It is taking a lead in the transformation of rural infrastructure services to high-quality development with digital empowerment, and providing quality and efficient services for the development in agricultural transportation.

STEC Urban Operation establishes the bridge operation mode, strengthens the operation standard and improves the operation concept for the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge Administration Bureau through comprehensive and in-depth consultation services from multiple perspectives of the document system for operation standards, the organizational framework and staffing, the management system, the technical document system, the outsourcing management, the government affairs linkage, the comprehensive development, etc. Those efforts contribute to the smooth transition of the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge from the construction period to the operation period, and provide a strong technical service support for the safe, orderly and efficient operation of the facility during the subsequent trial operation period.

In accordance with the subsequent planning and development requirements, upon event completion, this area will be built into a municipal public activity center as a 21st century landmark, combining "premium exhibition, headquarters business, cultural exhibition, ecological habitat, tourism and leisure" together. STEC participated in the design of underground space of Central SOEs’ headquarters in Expo Park Area B, covering about 450,000 square meters. This area is located in the west side of the Expo with four major pavilions. 28 buildings in the area shall accommodate China Commercial Aircraft, Baosteel, State Grid and other 15 large central SOEs. Above the ground is a low-carbon green ecological public activity center, under the ground is a super large "underground city" complex. Area B has been built adjacent to the west of Metro Line 13 Expo Park Station. The shortest distance between the foundation pit and the metro station is only 11.9 meters, and the shortest distance with the regional tunnel is approximately 14.3 meters. The southern side Guozhan Road and Bocheng Road have a shared ditch which is only about 3 meters from the nearest sideline pit, the surrounding roads are distributed with numerous pipelines. The ditch is only 200 meters away from the Huangpu River. It is the nearest mega underground construction project in Shanghai so far. Faced with such a complicated construction environment, STEC made an overall construction plan of the foundation pit. We divided 6 pits into two parts according to the distance. We start from the far pit, and when its inner structure is completed, we adopt the interval method one after another to build the near pits to reduce the shifting and sinking impact of the construction on the metro station, so as to ensure the overall progress of the project. The construction pioneered a new model of planning, designing and constructing several buildings’ underground space together, providing valuable and replicable experience for developing underground space in Shanghai and even central China. It also offered useful insights for building a future city’s CBD.

Tianjin Cultural Center is renowned for its status as the city’s guest reception hall. Its underground transportation hub is the first in Tianjin to serve as public cultural facilities, involving bus hub; parking lots; rail transport; integrated development of underground space; underground energy center and overpass tunnels. During the design stage, the hub is based on scale, network and 3D means to organize transport interchanges and passenger evacuation. The hub is designed to meet the demand of "seamless connection" of various transportation modes in the cultural center to achieve a win-win situation of underground space and to establish an underground transportation system with comprehensive functions. We first proposed the idea of reserving metro station space for renovating into an underground parking lot, to avoid the impact of a subsequent metro station construction on the nearby environment and ground traffic. It also improved the efficiency of the underground project. Based on "low carbon" and renewable energy as the guiding principle in our design concept, establishing a centralized underground energy center; using ground source heat pump + ice thermal storage assisting municipal heating network to make full use of idle power resources, so that electrical consumption at peak hours will be reduced, operating cost will be cut and environment will be improved. We also introduced a new concept with integrated natural lighting, atrium and underground space together, to balance the underground space and ground view and be environmental-friendly and energy-saving at the same time.

Shanghai Qingcaosha Reservoir Raw Water Project is a municipal engineering project of the 11^th five-year—plan. It consists of three main projects that are reservoir and water intake pump gate, pipeline for raw water of Yangtze River, terrestrial waterlines and pressure pump station. It is a huge urban water supply project. Under the process of design and construction, STEC made impressive achievement to economize on land and water by adopting such innovative technologies as pipeline series booster, pipe jacking curve, anticorrosion steel pipe combination and pipeline series of water hammer. STEC also overcame difficulties during the construction, such as ultra-deep foundation pit, transportation, ventilation and precision measurement of ultra-long distance. The project also managed to cross under tunnels, rivers, houses and maglev which is already in operation. The project won the National Gold Cup for Municipal Engineering Project, the National Gold Medal for Quality Project, the National Customer Satisfaction Project, Shanghai Safe Construction Site, Shanghai Civilized Construction site and Shanghai Environmental-Friendly Construction Site. Shanghai Qingcaosha Reservoir Raw Water Project is a major project to solve Shanghai citizens’ drinking water problems. The water supply area covers 8 districts including Yangpu, Hongkou, Zhabei, Huangpu, Jing’an, Changning, Putuo, and Xuhui, with a scale of 719 cubic meters per day, benefiting 11.5 million people according to the design. After the establishment of the raw water project, the raw water supply system of Shanghai will form a stable pattern of “two parallel rivers and three water sources” by relying on the upstream of Huangpu River, Chenhang reservoir at the mouth of Yangtze River and Qingcaosha raw water supply, thus solving three main difficulties in terms of the total water supply, the quality of drinking water and the safety of water supply in Shanghai.

During the planning and designing stage of the“West east gas transmission” Shanghai natural gas trunk pipeline network system project, STEC perserved in overall planning and scientific selection. Considering the urban space layout, STEC has laid, from the outside to the inside, 6.0 MPa super high pressure natural gas pipe network along the suburban ring and 1.6 MPa high pressure natural gas pipeline network along the outer ring, with pressure levels decreasing gradually. This has created a successful model for the city’s safe supply of natural gas.

In terms of the design, in addition to meeting the gas demand of high pressure gas power plants and of high-altitude gas use in super high-rise buildings, we have also successfully developed a number of invention patents and thus filled in the domestic gaps. During the construction, we promoted the "Four New " technology and have achieved a number of breakthroughs in pipe equipment selection, welding inspection, anti-corrosion technology and other aspects, by adhering to the concept of intrinsic safety in the pipeline. For complex construction sites such as the large transport hub and the uneven settlement areas, we actively implemented the innovation technology and have creatively applied new techniques such as combination through the pipeline and non-stop transmission implementation. For difficulties such as tight LNG station construction period and limited shoreline resources, we have not only saved the valuable shoreline resources but also ensured that the construction project runs safely and efficiently, by adopting the innovation in project construction mode, management in construction organization and planning and design in LNG berth. In the research and development process of science and technology, we carried out nearly a hundred overall topic studies, including planning, designing, construction management and so on, which has provided technical support and guarantee to the smooth implementation and safe operation in the project. Based on the summary of engineering construction experience, we have also drawn up ‘Technical Specification of City High Pressure and Super High Pressure Natural Gas Distribution Pipeline Engineering’ and ‘Design Code for LNG Emergency Peak-Shaving Station’, which has laid the foundation for revision of the national relevant fuel gas codes and again closed the domestic gaps.

Shanghai Xizang Road Electric Power Cable Tunnel is a major municipal civil engineering project, providing safe, stable and adequate power supply for the World Expo, together with Expo power cable tunnel. The project is located in the downtown area, with skyscrapers along the road. Underground soil structure is complicated, with various pipelines densely covered, crossing Suzhou Creek and metro equipment layer under construction along the way. In order to make the tunnel smoothly pass through the underground crack, we adopted three-dimensional control jacking optimization scheme. By using 350-meter curvature radius curve jacking technique, this project successfully avoided underground buildings and smoothly passed through No. 3 and No. 4 entrances and exits of the Metro Line 8 and the stations of Line 9 and Line 10 in operation. The nearest crossing distance is only 48 centimeters. In pipe jacking construction process, we used ‘complete construction technique for pipe jacking perturbation in a complex environment’ and made technical researches and improvement on the pipe jacking machine, slurry sleeve technology, micro disturbance control technology respectively as below: The lateral frictional resistance of the outer wall of the tube is controlled within 1KPA; 3500 mm-diameter pipe jacking excavates 1.3 km one time; the deviation after linking up is less than 5 cm. While ensuring the linking of interval tunnels, we met the target of small disturbance to the surrounding environment. Also, this project was given the golden award of Shanghai Municipal Engineering Award, first prize of QC Outstanding Achievements in Gas Industry and in Shanghai Municipal Engineering and QC Group Award for Best Results in Shanghai Municipal Engineering Construction. The construction of Xizang road electric power cable tunnel is the main tunnel to connect Shanghai city center and expo power cable tunnel.

Shanghai Jinqiao Ruishi Garden is located in Shanghai Pudong New district, east to Zaozhuang Road and north to East Boshan road. The gross floor area of this project is about 220,000 square meters, among which 18 high-rise buildings cover an area of 150,000 square meters and 4 multi-floor villas of 10,000 square meters. In 2005, in accordance with the accurate market analysis and prospects of Jinqiao district, we developed “Jinqiao Development District” and at that time made a bold move to build rare residential houses with fine design and provide a perfect “move-in condition”. The buildings in the project feature neoclassical style, with a façade made of natural granite and bricks as well as the perfect combination of construction and aesthetic in terms of the choice of materials, color balance and the standard of scales and mixture of lines. Boasting a 66-meter-wide column distance, 16.3% of super-low building density, the buildings are sparsely and densely scattered around the community. In terms of landscape design, we built green avenues at the entrance of the community, grew evergreen column trees and other trees whose leaves usually fall and turn yellow in autumn, interspersed with large-scale yards and water landscapes to showcase three dimensional effects and to create the effect of “a new view with each moving step” under the design concept of “forging European royal garden”. On the design of house types, the high floors contain five types of houses from 81 to 180 square meters and the villas contain 2 types of houses from 311 to 420 square meters in order to demonstrate the qualities of “spaciousness, delicacy and transparency”, to achieve the effect of “being spacious on large scale and being deep on micro scale” and to have natural lighting and be bright from south to north. What’s more, we use quality decor materials of international standard such as a whole set of Nobilia kitchens, Daikin central air-conditioners, Siemens electrical appliances, and Hafele door locks, with careful work, to create a high quality and elegant lifestyle for house owners. 

Shanghai Pujiang large residential community is located at Pujiang Town, Minhang district. The total investment of the project costs 12 billion yuan and the planned floor area occupies 232 hectares which are mainly relocated houses and economically affordable housing, with the total area of about 2,150,000 square meters among which the residential area occupies about 1,740,000 square meters and public building area of about 440,000 square meters. It is one of the largest-scale affordable housing bases in Shanghai. The project contains six-phase construction of 55 projects comprising small residential communities, roads, riverways, public and education education. Investment in labors, materials and machinery is high during construction peaks and various work processes become complicated. As we place more emphasis on livable projects, we uphold the core concept of “green living” throughout, with green landscape ratio up to 35%, which is almost the same as those of commercial properties. On the design of house types, we designed 1-room, 2-rooms and 3-rooms housing types, with the house availability rate reaching 82%. Meanwhile, the project highlights diversity and advancement, leaving ample space for the future development of the community. It plans to build two wet markets, one community healthcare center, one rehabilitation center, 18-square-meter commercial center and basic education infrastructure which includes two high schools, three junior high schools and eight kindergartens. It strives to synchronize commerce, health care, education with public service facility in the large-scale residential community and to forge a residential community with “scientific planning, complete facility, pleasant environment and quality project". The future rail line 8 will directly extend to the community center which will be equipped with large number of ground public transport interchanges so as to offer a variety of transport means above and underground for citizens. Due to the fact that Pujiang large residential community adopts PC modular building system and many building components are prefabricated by the industry, the number of building workers is reduced by about 40%. The modular building can improve the reutilization rate of such materials as steel molding plates, dramatically reducing the construction and material wastage, thus the construction energy saving rate can be over 50%. Moreover, the quality of industrially produced buildings are improved and some common problems like leakage and wall cracking solved. This is the largest-scale project in Shanghai with the highest PC productivity rate and enjoys a prefabrication rate basically from over 50% to the highest 70%.  

As one of China’s three largest international airports, Shanghai Pudong International Airport handles 60% of the total flights coming in and out of Shanghai. It serves the most international travelers among other domestic airports. STEC has been involved in several construction projects so far since 2003, in terms of airport runway, taxiway, and rainwater pumping stations. In order not to affect the airport’s daily operation, STEC has overcome challenges such as limited construction time and low visibility in nighttime during the construction. Currently, STEC are making all efforts in building the fifth runway and eastern tarmac. After the construction, Pudong Airport will work as a comprehensive transportation hub, linking domestic and international cities. This will continuously enhance the city’s comprehensive competitiveness, and the ability to serve the whole country and to link the world.

Jiangxi Nanchang Chaoyang Bridge, between the Nanchang Bridge and the ShengMi Bridge, is the major project of the south-central expressway crossing over the Gan River in the trunk road network plan. Its total length is 3.6 kilometers, including 1,560 meters that cross over Gan River. STEC invested, designed and built the bridge. We also undertook its daily maintenance, materializing “Full Life Circle Theory”. In terms of the design, after full consideration of the history and development of Nanchang, we formulated “Sail in Joint”, which means the bridge would have six towers and seven holes. The shape of the bridge looks like a Chinese character合, meaning tolerance and harmony. In the middle of the bridge, there are two viewing platforms which make it a pleasant experience to cross the river slowly. During the construction, we used the new technology of PC box girder with corrugated steel webs. It not only decreased the work of supporting structure, but also the work of building samples, bracket etc. The new technology was economical, and shortened construction period. Nanchang Chaoyang Bridge advanced the plan “One River with Two Shores” of Nanchang government. It further accelerates the construction of new Chaoyang city, and it is significant to the development of Hongjiaozhou District.

The design for the station adopts the concept of “one view for one line”. We use modern building materials, technical and construction methods to build a "modern bridge” architectural image. The ancient legend "crane dances across the sand" designed for the Wild Animal Park Station highlights the special geographical and cultural characteristics of the region.

Shanghai Metro Line 16 is a regional express line, connecting Lingang and the city center. The total line is 58.8 kilometers long. We took charge of designing the entire line and part of the underground constructions. In the design of elevated section, we invented and applied the U-shaped thin-walled structure package design, construction techniques and construction technology investment decreased by about 18.5% per kilometer, compared with traditional large and small box girders. The underground section uses the single underground railway tunnel with dual carriageway in China for the first time, by presetting the wall to separate the tunnel into two semi-circular spaces. To prevent the tunnel structure from deforming, we reserved a certain gap between the top of the wall and the tunnel structure, which we called a separate structure design.

The underground section of Metro Line 16 is 10.3 kilometers long and has three underground stations. STEC constructed three intervals, two air shafts, and two stations. It is the first time a slurry shield tunneling machine of 11.58 m diameter in unstable formations was used in China. In the initial assembly of the shield machine, we use ‘frame conversion’ method to solve the problem of placing a 90-meter shield in a 49-meter-long tunnel, creating a precedent for using the large diameter slurry shield in domestic construction industry. As the key construction technology to the single underground railway tunnel with dual carriageway, the separate wall construction was attempted for the first time in China. There is no relevant construction experience to follow. We work with professional machinery manufacturers jointly developing the partition assembly robot, tunnel wall construction machines, special chassis, and other professional construction equipment. We also received national patents, and provided an example for constructing the single underground railway tunnel with dual carriageway using large-diameter shield.

Apart from resolving the construction difficulties in road tunnels, STEC is also dedicated to reserving space for city transportation system via pre-design. Guangdong Zhuhai Maliuzhou Traffic Tunnel is an exclusive underwater tunnel connecting Zhuhai city center and Hengqin New District, which is also the first 14-meter diameter massive shied tunnel in southern China. As the weaver of “intelligent transportation system plan” in Zhuhai, STEC has a more profound understanding in the design and construction of Zhuhai-Hengqin tunnel.

Due to the influences of three to four typhoons in Zhuhai every year, two bridge passageways in Hengqin will be totally blocked when the typhoons come. Therefore, STEC helped the island to maintain contact under severe weather by enhancing the design of flood prevention platform in tunnels thereby resolving the problem. Meanwhile, STEC also connects the tunnel, with surrounding city transportation and tube systems, taking into account transportation function and city planning development. The move to combine the tunnel and the surrounding municipal road network, pipeline network, municipal pipelines into the underwater shield tunnel reduce the expenses of underwater cables and specified pipes and provides a multi-functional tunnel so as to free up space for Hengqin’s further development.

Besides its function, STEC also considered the important harbor as the city’s image. Tunnel designers adopt the “Chinese zither” as the model to make the surrounding system composed in the shape of Chinese zither. It also adopts the form of earth-covered construction, making the vegetation appear like the elaborate decoration patterns on Chinese zithers. With the premise of satisfying transport demand, the project not only presents the characteristic culture of Zhuhai Hengqin but also emphasizes the ecological meaning which perfectly displayed the geographical scenery traits of Hengqin Island.

Shanghai Metro Century Avenue Station Project is located in Shanghai Pudong New Area, at the intersection of Century Avenue, Dongfang Road, and Zhangyang Road, with floor area of 36,300 square meters. The Century Avenue Transfer hub is an efficient integrated and resource sharing station. The height of four stations formed the shape of the Chinese character "丰". In lieu of the traditional way of transfer, a "zero transfer hub" was achieved. This innovation not only reduces transfer time and distance, but also greatly improved passengers’ transit experience. Consolidating the surrounding environment conditions during construction, we first built separately then combined all the things together. We utilized the multi-door-shaped anti-floating beam to ensure the structure stability of the station. When constructing metro line 9 station’s foundation pit, we excavated section by section and adopted a steel-concrete supporting system to prevent line 2 and 4 stations from deforming, which ensured normal operation of metro stations. The project’s technical innovations not only fulfilled the lacking part of large-scale rail transit transfer station expansion project, but also accumulated much experience in large-scale construction projects. The success of the project bears testament to our construction techniques in underground expansion reaching an international level. Our research achievements can be widely promoted in the entire underground construction industry.

Tianjin Yujiabao financial district is located in the core area of Tianjin Binhai New District. It’s the third major financial district in China following Shenzhen Futian and Pudong Lujiazui. B1 is a commercial street, B2 and B3 are metro line B2 and B3’s interchange area. We take charge of Tianjin Yujiabao initial Lot 9 underground space’s preliminary design, construction drawing design, the peninsula ditch, underground space design of 3.86 square kilometers, and the first phase of the shared ditch project. In the overall design of underground space, we reserved space in advance for the surrounding basements connection to ensure the sustainable development of the region. Based on the principal of developing surface and underground integration, we set rail transport as the core objective and formed a three-dimensional framework to establish an integrated commercial system, enhancing the region’s value. When designing the metro line’s entrance, we tried upgrading the design method twice to create the environment, and to improve the quality. By constructing semi-sinking platform, the atrium’s underground space is designed with full natural ventilation and lighting. After the completion of the shared ditch, the underground pipelines of the financial district can be kept centralized in the "shared ditch," and completely reversed the past situation of messy pipelines everywhere.

Shanghai Zhuyuan No.1 Sewage Treatment Plant is located inside Zhuyuan Sewage Treatment Plant in Gaodong Town, Pudong New District, covering an area of 500 mu. It is an extension project of the first phase project of Suzhou Creek’s integrated treatment, mainly dealing with domestic sewage and combined sewage in Suzhou Creek, Putuo, Changning, Jing’an, Zhabei as well as partial areas in Huangpu, Hongkou, Yangpu, Pudong and Waigaoqiao, benefiting approximately 2.35 million people. The Shanghai Zhuyuan No.1 Sewage Plant discharges treated water flow into Yangtze River, twice the amount of Suzhou Creek, designed to treat 1.7 million tons of sewage per day, accounting for nearly one third of the whole city’s use. It was the largest modernized sewage treatment plant in Asia upon its completion. In 2004 its treatment of sewage was level 1 and in 2010 it upgraded to level 2 which meant biological treatment. After the establishment of this plant, the entire water environment of the city was greatly improved, and the plant not only played an important role in sewage treatment, water quality maintanence and ecological balance, but also was instrumental in improving the investment environment in Pudong New District and promoting the sustainable development of Pudong’s regional economy.

Shanghai Pudong Foreshore Natural Gas Decentralized Energy Project is located in foreshore area 56-01 plot, along Huangpu River’s south extension. The total construction area is 20,750 square meters, with 10,800 square meters above the ground and 9,950 square meters under the ground. This super large urban complex of commerce and residence adopts the natural gas decentralized energy system in an area of 420,000 square meters. Compared to the normal centralized system, this decentralized system is more energy-efficient, cleaner, more economical and safer. STEC has contracted this project and innovatively used natural gas as fuel. With the help of two 345 kilowatts gas internal combustion engine generating sets and their supporting facilities and one 1,800 kilowatts domestic gas turbine demonstration platform, we provided cooling and heating air conditioner with high quality and reliability near the load center, through the new energy supply technologies such as the combined cooling, heating and power system as well as energy storage. The project’s comprehensive energy utilization rate reaches more than 70%. Compared with the traditional cold and heat source and electric energy dispersion, the CCHP technology of foreshore energy stations can greatly reduce energy consumption and emissions of carbon dioxide and sulfur dioxide. In the process of developing the foreshore into ’24-hour City’, this project not only brings closer the foreshore area and international financial cities like New York and London, but also develops a more environmentally friendly area.

Jiangsu Nanjing Garbage Incineration Power Plant in North Venous Industrial Park is located in Pukou District in Nanjing and is called ‘Twin Plants’, together with Jiangnan Garbage Incineration Power Plant constructed during the same period. With the widespread public concern over waste incineration flue gas treatment, we innovatively adopted the flue gas purification process of ‘semi dry + dry + activated carbon injection + bag filter +SNCR’. For the leachate and other waste water, we adopted ‘slag pretreatment + anaerobic +MBR+RO’ process. Slag, which is waste incineration product, belongs to general solid waste and all the waste generated by waste incineration can achieve safe disposal. As a key project in infrastructure construction in Nanjing city, this is an important livelihood project that can promote integration of urban and rural life garbage disposal in the city and achieve zero harm, quantity reduction and resource fulfillment of domestic garbage. Thus, this project is crucial to improving the living environment of urban and rural areas and the overall standard of the whole city. After the completion, with daily treatment of municipal solid waste reaching 2,000 tons, Jiangbei Garbage Incineration Power Plant in Venous Industrial Park can help Nanjing digest nearly 1/3 of the domestic garbage.

Shanghai Hongyuan Prime International Cultural City Project, an urban complex project integrating first-rate office building, hotel, exhibition, commerce and entertainment activities, is situated at the 02 section of the first phase in Shanghai Hongqiao central business district and the total area occupies 92,133 square meters. The project contains 13 buildings above the ground, the gross floor area occupying 256,323 square meters and the buildings under the ground divided into three-floor basements, the gross floor area underground occupying 272,074 square meters. According to the construction requirement of low-carbon emission, all the materials shall meet relevant requirements and all the roofs in the project will undergo greenery works. Meanwhile, the project will carry out the supply of combined cooling, heating and power in all areas, the integrated utilization rate of energy resources will reach over 80%, more than double the utilization rate of traditional energy supply. In order to raise underground activity rate, commercial value and utilization rate, the project attaches great importance to the standardization of above and underground commerce, creating a favorable commercial environment and improving the human traffic and commercial value underground, and to forge a more comfortable and safer underground district. In addition, there are connecting underground paths whereby it is able to connect with Hongqiao traffic hub, International Convention Center project and other core commercial areas to achieve “Broad Connection and Grand Development” and to form a complete underground network. During the construction, we built an integrated management platform including staff management, construction site monitoring, multi-tower management and foundation monitoring by means of BIM management system to digitalize, visualize and grid the personnel management and construction process, to improve the dynamic construction management level and to ensure safe, quality and efficient progress and to gather experience for similar large-scale complex projects. After the project is completed, it will blend in with other complex projects in the whole central area to grow into a multi-functional, fast traffic, pleasant space and ecologically effective business district with immense power of growth and attractiveness.

Shanghai Electronic Toll Collection Project is a major civil engineering project. By using this toll system, cars can go through the gate in less than two seconds, five to ten times quicker than paying fees manually. STEC leads the industry in designing smart transport. After Shanghai government issued a paper on developing the highway ETC system in 2006, STEC is proud to be invited to design the 1st, 2nd and 3rd phases of the ETC project, providing comprehensive plans for the full application of the ETC system, and also assisting Shanghai to lead other cities in developing smart transport. We suggest the ETC project having toll charging and clearing center, card center, customer service system, toll charging branches, toll gate system, driveway system and car OBU system. We’ve also proposed an innovative ETC technique plan. That is, installing OBU with a single stored value card to let a car go through quickly on crowded roads to meet some cities’ requirements of high speed. Using traffic micro simulation software PARAMICS can optimize the setting of ETC driveways, railings, and card readers. With all these, crowded roads can be eased and clearance speed can be increased. After the 1st and 2nd phase construction, 190 ETC driveways were set up in 22 major toll gates and 64 subsidiary toll gates in Shanghai. After the 3rd phase, 79 more were installed, covering all the highway toll gates inside Shanghai. Cars can now pass through the Yangtze Delta Region (Shanghai, Jiangsu, Zhejiang, Anhui, Jiangxi and Fujian) without stopping, by using the ETC system.

As the first national enterprise building large-scale public roads using an 11-meter shield for construction, STEC applies the large-diameter shield construction technology to rail transport, aimed to meet the clients’ need to shorten tunnel construction period and save the underground space. The tunnel, starting from East Liuzhou Rd to Shang Yuan Gate of Nanjing Metro Line 3, is 3353.94 meters long. We construct the single underground railway tunnel with dual carriageway and inner structure at the same time, with shield’s diameter reaching 11.57 meters. Because of the expansion of the shield’s diameter, the shield is able to lay two tracks at the same time. This reduces the construction costs and time significantly and saves limited urban underground space compared to traditional 6-meter-diameter shields. The metro has to go through the Yangtze River, where the geologic situation is complicated, as there are a lot of gravels, fracture zones and layers at the bottom of the river. However, due to our rich experience in previous large road tunnels, we conquered all the difficulties and successfully built a single underground railway tunnel with dual carriageway using large-diameter shield across the Yangtze River in China for the first time.

Zhuhai Modern tram is the first tramway using ground-level power supply system in China, which has zero emission during operation. The first phase project of Zhuhai modern tram line 1, designed by STEC, stretches 8.7 kilometers. All 14 stations are above the ground, and the line has one tram base. The modern trams are 100% low-floor, with steel wheel and steel rail. The whole line uses catenary-free ground-level power supply system. STEC also adopts environmental-friendly lighting system, which gradually adjust light to become brighter when the tram reaches the station, and the lighting intensity differs on holidays and working days. In addition, in order to make full use of the tram as a major public transport, STEC offers a series of value-added services for the city. That includes 10 shuttle buses’ routes and transportation plan which can serve more than 110,000 people, as the tram network is not fully developed and there are only very limited connections with existing public transports in the first phase project of Zhuhai Modern tram line 1. The first phase of the tram involve dedicated lane rights, before the traffic flow matures and early stage transportation stabilizes, some lanes will be free, while other lanes are crowded. STEC analyzed the tram lane’s characteristics, accessible time and numbers, and then set limited conditions for cars to share the tramway. That means, trams use the first-phase tramway exclusively, but at the intersections, some of the roads are shared. On the basis of intersection traffic organizing principle, STEC offered signal control strategies and intersection signal control solutions to ensure the signal control are embedded in the design. Our study on the tram is gradually expanded to more routes and functions. We also drafted guidelines to help trams become the major transport mode in the city.

Zhengzhou Zhongzhou Avenue Tunnel is the longitudinal axis of the city’s downtown expressway system. It has the biggest section of a rectangular pipe jacking tunnel in the world. Since 1999, STEC has put rectangular pipe jacking technology into tunnel construction. The conduit jacking construction technology has a higher utilization rate of space with shallow overburden and low construction cost. These advantages make conduit jacking construction technology favorable for underground construction in big cities.

The construction of Zhengzhou Zhongzhou Avenue Tunnel consists of four rectangular pipe jacking tunnels through the use of a large section pipe jacking machine (10.4 m * 7.5 M). STEC managed to finish the first 110 meters long extra large section rectangular pipe jacking in China without disturbing the ground transportation, underground lines or pipes. The land subsidence was controlled in less than 3 centimeters. At the same time, in view of the special section structure of conduit jacking, the tunnel has a 35% higher utilization rate of space than a round section tunnel, reducing the depth of tunnel burial.

Till dare, among the finished rectangular pipe jacking tunnels, the biggest width is 6 meters like a pavement. STEC’s domestically designed 10 meters’ width tunnel is the first example in the world. It subverted the concept of city road design and construction. It is poised to become one of the best options of city’s underground transportation and tunnel net construction.

The earth pressure balance shield “Pioneer” is the 863^rd project of the 10^th five year plan in our country, which was constructed by STEC. We developed the first underground shield in China with autonomous intellectual property right in 2003. This shield’s outer diameter is 6.34 meters, and the largest thrust is 35200KN. Its excavating speed reaches to 6 cm/min. In October 2004, this shield was applied to the tunnel construction of Shanghai Metro Line 2’s Gubei Road to Zhongshan park area. In June 2005, the first tunneling was finished. The “Pioneer” created a new record of shield excavation in the world, and set a record of excavating 38.4 meters per day and 566.4 meters per month compared with the fast record of 31.4 meters per day and 531 meters per month at that time. The “Pioneer” reversed the situation that foreign shield ruled the shield technology, and its main technical standards attained the advanced level of foreign shields. Therefore, it acquired many awards such as Shanghai Science and Technology Progress Award, Chinese Major Creation Award and silver prize of Chinese Industrial Exposition. 22 “Pioneer” were ordered in 2006, boosting the domestic shield market greatly and also achieving quantum leap development of shield in STEC. “Pioneer” has been used to construct metro tunnels in Shanghai, Zhengzhou, Hangzhou, Nanjing and Wuhan etc.

Shanghai Zhuyuan sludge treatment project, the fourth round of a three-year environmental protection plan and the World Bank loan project, is mainly located within the planning Zhuyuan sludge plant in Waigaoqiao area, Shanghai Pudong New District. It mainly receives and disposes of dewatered sludge from four sludge treatment plants, namely plant one, plant two, Quyang and Sitang in Shanghai Zhuyuan after it was established. It is the largest project with the counterpart technology in Asia Pacific region, and its treatment quantity accounting for a quarter of total sludge amount in Shanghai, and employs the advanced state-of-art “half-dry + incineration” technology. Incineration gas purification employs the technology of “electrostatic precipitator + bag filter +scrubber”, burying the flying ashes into the old harbor after incineration in the short term and utilizing the disposed building materials in the long term, which will guarantee the stability, reduction, reuse and recycle of sludge in Zhuyuan sludge treatment plant after the whole project goes into operation. Shanghai Zhuyuan sludge treatment project solved the difficulty of “sludge around the city”, finding out a way to treat sludge instead of burying it away.  

As a large-scale comprehensive project combining civil engineering, installation and electricity, Shanghai Middle Yanggao Road Power Tunnel Project is our country’s largest power tunnel. It is also a landscape engineering project to place all overhead high voltage lines under the ground in Pudong. After the completion, the ‘cobweb’ in the air on the south side of Shanghai Middle Yanggao Road completely disappeared. Middle Yanggao Road Power Tunnel was 3,180 meters in length and was divided into two parts: the tunnel and working well construction, among which the tunnel is about 2,800 meters in length along with cables of 22 million volts, which mainly supplies the People's Square and Lujiazui area. During the tunnel construction, we adopted the trenchless pipe jacking technology, dividing the construction into nine sections, among which 4 sections crossing under the road and 3 sections respectively crossing under East Yan’an Road, Luoshan Road Overpass and raw water box culvert. Top section construction imposes high requirements on environment deformation control. As there was no mature construction experience in ‘large-caliber, long-distance and hyperbolically curved pipe jacking underground butting construction’, construction is of great difficulty. The tunnel can allow small maintenance vehicles to enter. Therefore, if there is a power failure, maintenance will not affect ground traffic on Middle Yanggao Road. This makes line maintenance of the high voltage cable and daily maintenance more convenient. In addition, the monitoring equipment in the tunnel and the card access system into and out of the tunnel can prevent theft of the buried cables and make the power line safer.

Jiangxi Nanchang Red Valley Ruishi Inner City Square is located at the very heart of Jiulong Lake, Red Valley beach in Nanchang city, near Nanchang west high-speed railway station, east to Longhu hill avenue and south to west station street. The total floor area occupies 80,000 square meters and the building area covers an area of 300,000 square meters which congregates 7 high-rise residential houses of 90,000 square meters, LOFT apartment of 56,000 square meters, innovative offices of 63,000 square meters and the commercial area of 23,000 square meters. As STEC’s first complex project in Nanchang, it brings the brand “RuiShi” to the smart community. Starting from the basis of “human habitat", the project pursues the comfort and quality of residential houses while establishing a community with unique characteristics, and enhances the indoor space as well as shared green space between commercial buildings and residential houses by bringing in the concept of “sky garden”. Meanwhile, the scattering of the buildings both high and low, offers the best possible sunshine environment to the residential houses, producing a more symbolic urban interface. Besdes the daily facilities, we plan to build “4+N” life service system, namely integrate “Scientific and technological intelligence+”, “environmental protection+”, “innovation service+” and “comfortable life+”. Through the establishment of residential houses with such functions as full internet coverage, intelligent home while advocating zero carbon concept, offering 24-hour life service and building a prosperous commercial community, we strive to build a scientific and futuristic technological complex community providing full service and practical functions.

Located at Shanghai Zhabei Daning district, Shanghai Daning Ruishi Garden is situated with Pengyuepu natural landscape riverway in the east, facing Central Yanchang Road in the south, stretched with Hutai Road in the west and backed by Old Hutai Road in the north. The building area of this project is 141,731 square meters, which consists of 13 middle high-rise residential houses with delicate decoration and 4 three-to-five-floor garden villas. It is a fully renovated quality residence. By adopting ArtDeco architecture style perfectly, the buildings display steady, unique and classical images of logic and imagination through repeated arrangements of vertical lines as well as simple geometric symmetrical construction. In terms of space design, the main high-rise house occupies 120-170 square meters, comprising three rooms, designed with delicate and splendid halls of 4.2 meters on the first floor, allowing one elevator per household design, double balconies in the south, 5-meter-wide dining hall and 4.2-meter-wide main bedroom. It’s rare in the market to have a 4.2-meter-wide main bedroom in a 150-square-meter house and 5-meter-wide dining hall in a house. In particular, the efficiency rate of main house reaches as high as 85%. As the representative work of similar projects in Daning International community, 4 multi-floor garden villas are designed for flat living, compressing several floors into one, namely “one household on one floor” with the coverage area of 180-240 square meters, dining hall 6-7 meter-wide, interior level 4.2-meter-high and the main bedroom the size of a large suite as wide as 4.6 meters. It separates the living area from common area, activity versus resting zone. Considering the personal needs of house owners, we specially built a large terrace garden of 80 square meters on the top floor and a basement of 150 square meters on the ground floor where there are independent home theatres, bars, saunas and reading rooms. In addition, we integrate the environmental-friendly-concept into many details by using energy efficient materials on the wall, and insulated metal and multi-cavity sealed window frame for exterior windows to maintain indoor temperature. Comfort systems like multi-functional eco central air-conditioners and hot water are also equipped, whose energy efficiency is over the national primary standard and are more power-saving than traditional air-conditioners and water heaters. In addition, there are elevator shafts with sound-absorbing materials, outdoor waste water or rainwater diversion design and water collection and reuse system to save energy consumption and to efficiently improve resource utilization. It is the first residential project to be awarded the “Energy Saving Model” in Zhabei district.

The First Phase of Haxi Smart System in Harbin, Heilongjiang province is located in Harbin West Railway Station, the important city gate in southwestern Harbin, covering an area of 18.3 square kilometers. It was put into operation with Harbin West Railway Station Integrated Transport Hub. As the model project in Harbin West Railway Station to apply Internet of Things, the smart system of Haxi integrated transport hub is a regional information handling center, mainly focusing on traffic and passenger flow management. STEC was responsible for designing the smart system’s IT center of “Smart West Harbin”. Using this system helped Haxi to become a smart society with “smart traffic, smart city inspectors, smart securities, and smart communities”. The IT center can show all real-time traffic information, 24 hours surveillance, transport scheduling, offer parking information, and deal with emergency through the smart system. This can eventually help Harbin Railway Station to operate and maintain core areas, respond to disaster or emergencies, regulate traffic and share information, schedule transport and govern the city comprehensively.

As the leading enterprise in domestic smart design, STEC has successfully completed projects like Information Management System of Shanghai Hongqiao Integrated Transport Hub, Shanghai Road Traffic Information Collection and Distribution System, and Smart Management System in East Zhengzhou Station, Henan Province, continuously racing ahead in the domestic smart transport industry.

Jiangsu High-Tech Zone modern tram line 1 is the first tramway in Jiangsu province, the very first 100% low-floor steel wheel and steel rail modern tramway. It is also the first tramway project to receive approval from the National Development and Reform Commission. The tram line is 25.739 km in length, and has 24 stations from Mudu at the foot of Tianping Mountain in the west to Zhongnan Street near Jinji Lake in the east. The tramline passes through 6 districts in Suzhou, with a total investment of 12.6 billion yuan. The right of way is semi-closed. Trams are 100% low-floor with steel wheel and steel rail. Overhead lines supply power to the tram. This project created a brand new situation in the development of modern trams, which also showcased STEC‘s capability as the market leader in the modern tramway industry.

Shanghai City Sewage Treatment Line in Bailonggang Trunk Improvement Project is the last massive-scale sewage treatment line in the sewage treatment system’s professional plan in the city center. Manufacturing models, hoisting equipment and fabrication craft are all innovated to specialize in a disposable pouring-made drain pipe which has the largest diameter of 4,000 millimeters in China for the trunk improvement project SST 2.1, SST 2.3, SST 2.4. To ensure the smooth process of pipe-jacking, we utilized the jacking parameters and applied the digitalized information feedback technology to manipulate the construction quality, execute calibration system and control the center and height of jacking center. To guarantee the pipe-jacking’s successful crossing the maglev foundation and aviation tubes in Pudong International Airport, we carried out in time detection, feedback and rectification. This project is honored “four star” in National Site-Management Evaluation Assessment and Shanghai Magnolia Construction Project. After the construction, this project will effectively resolve the sewage treatment from Puxi in Shanghai, enabling a match between sewage treatment system line in Bailonggang and the ongoing project of enlarging the Bailonggang sewage treatment factory, which embodies strong meaning for improving the water quality in Huangpu River and protecting the water environment in Shanghai.

Shanghai Suzhou Creek Environmental Integrated Improvement Project overcame the difficulty of river closure for dry weather flow in the middle and lower reaches of Suzhou Creek and closed the gaps in the river closure project dealing with direct sewage discharge. The river closure project in the middle and lower reaches involved roughly 10 administrative districts including Jiading, Putuo. The dry weather sewage flow of direct discharge for river closure reaches 30 cubic meters per day. This project is divided into three phases of establishment and improvement of discharge system. The service area of the first phase of the project, tributary sewage for river closure in Suzhou Creek, occupies about 230 square meters, covering 61 discharge system or land parcels. This project effectively controlled and collected sewage produced by the pollution source and decreased the pollution burden that the tributary laid on the mainstream of Suzhou Creek through the large-scale utilization of deodorization techniques in pump stations. The second phase of the project is an important part of water treatment in the latest round of environmental protection plan. The service area occupies 525 square meters. It combined regional planning, built and improved municipal sewage collection system, improved sewage closure facility which offered a path for sewage treatment in rural areas. It built 10 sewage treatment stations, 2 sewage closure facilities, and about 112-kilometer-long rain sewage pipes of which the total investment was 1.08 billion yuan. The third phase of the project covers an area of 525 cubic meters including establishing and improving the discharge system, collecting inland river sewage through drainage pump stations, and rainwater pump station with split-flow rainwater system in charge of river closure for dry weather sewage, involving 20 drainage water systems. It built a 51-kilometer rainwater sewage pipe whose flood and water-logging control capability is 33 cubic meters per second and 3 new closure facilities for dry weather sewage of which the total investment was about 1 billion yuan. The first-stage project won the third prize of National Outstanding Projects in Survey and Design. The second-stage project won the second prize of National Outstanding Projects in Survey and Design. And the third-stage project’s treatment technology won the third prize of Shanghai Scientific and Technological Progress Award in 2007.

Macao Onshore Natural Gas Input and Transmission System is the first natural gas pipeline in Macao. STEC undertakes its design and partial construction. The main content of the design is ’Two Stations One Line’, that is, 5.28 km gas pipeline, the road central gate station as well as the metering station of the power plant, which mainly supplies the power plant, needs to residents and utilities on Macao Road. STEC brings together professionals in the pipeline, gate stations, equipment, materials, construction, water supply and drainage, electrical control into the Macao project team and they are responsible for the implementation of this project. Macao natural gas pipeline mainly supplies the power plant, residents’ needs and utilities on Macao Road. The gas source is borrowed from Zhuhai Hengqin, crossing to Macao through underwater directional drilling. After entering into the ring gate station on the Macao Road for the filtering metering, natural gas goes to Macao Power Plant, with gas design pressure of 4.0 Mpa, pipe length of 5.1 km and the total gas flow rate of 126,000 cubic meters / hour. The construction of this project helps optimize the energy structure in this area, enrich local energy varieties, relieve the tension of the energy supply and also has positive significance in reducing excessive reliance on fuel products for a long time, strengthening local risk reduction capabilities and ensuring energy supply safety as well as reducing exhaust emissions and environmental pollution.

Φ11.22m大直径泥水平衡盾构“进越号”由隧道股份依托“十一五”国家863项目于2008年成功研制。2009年9月，胜利完成了世博重大配套工程打浦路隧道复线。该盾构在核心关键技术—大直径泥水平衡控制技术、多功能真空吸盘式管片拼装机等方面上取得了重大突破。所采用的泥水平衡动态自动控制系统，实际施工中，泥水压力的波动控制在0.008MPa以内，优于当时的国际水平。保证了盾构掘进过程中开挖面稳定以及环境保护的特殊要求（解决穿越老隧道、备用车道、污水南干线的安全难题）。同时，在黄浦江底实现了隧道小曲率半径仅为380米的施工，创下国际大型泥水平衡盾构最小转弯半径的纪录。这台盾构机的技术指标与国外同类技术的水平大体相当，填补了国内大型盾构机领域的空白，达到国际先进水平，曾获得2010年中国国际工业博览会金奖第一名。

With a diameter of 6.64m, articulated EPB shield “Nanyang” is the first earth pressure shield machine exported abroad, independently developed by STEC. This shield machine has achieved the international BS standard. The lifetime of the key components reached 10,000 hours under the load standard, ensuring high reliability. The designing and equipment of the shield machine surpassed the domestic standard of shield machines, for example, the shield machine was equipped with fire fighting system in terms of sprinklers, water curtain, bubbles and CO2 automatic fire extinguishing measures. Complete data collection, shield condition monitoring, shield key positions’ video monitoring and voice communication system are also equipped. The shield design is more refined, besides installing pedestrian gantry gates, there are materials’ access gates; full set of mechanical auxiliary device for the transportation of cutters resulting in labor reduction, safety and reliability. Particularly the air cooling system was equipped to ensure the working surface temperature of the shield machine.

Shanghai Urban Construction International Center is located in Zhuyuan Business Area in Lujiazui, at the intersection of Fushan Road and Pudian Road, with a total area of 60,000 square meters of which commerical buildings occupy 5,500 square meters and office buildings cover an area of 39,500 square meters. It rises to 120 meters with 25 floors above the ground and 3 floors under the ground. In consideration of the importance of location of office buildings, we made a comprehensive analysis of the project based on market needs, and focusing on building “central business district in the city”, we selected Lujiazui integrated business district encompassing large-scale business, culture, leisure and entertainment activities, adjacent to rail line 4 and other major trunk lines like Central Avenue and Zhangyang Road. Adhering to the advanced design concept, the project enclosed glass curtain walls on the facade to highlight the light and shadow effect, and adopted over three kinds of stone cladding crafts to overcome technical difficulties such as the coordination between the integral color and patterns. In the ecological landscape design, it is the first to introduce the concept of “roof garden” at that time and fully illustrates the perfect unity between human being and nature. Furthermore, the Center has complete supporting facilities like central-air conditioners and telecommunications and installed 4 upper-floor elevators and 4 lower-floor elevators, one fire lift and two escalators. This project won “Luban Award of Chinese Construction Project” by virtue of its remarkable quality.

After several years of expansion, Shanghai’s first civil airport, Shanghai Hongqiao International Airport is now one of China’s largest international airports. Its construction and operation fully embodies the idea of “developing a city’s airport is to develop an aviation city”. STEC has been involved in the construction of Hongqiao Airport as early as 1970s, including most of the construction work of the runway, taxiway and tarmac before 2005. In terms of the airport’s renovation, STEC has accomplished the task of asphalt paving on runways in 1991, 1998, and 2005, without affecting the airport’s daily operation. We have also renovated the eastern taxiway in 2000, and the eastern runway in 2011. The airport’s eastern runway renovation project not only made full use of its residual value, but also complied with the infrastructure procedure strictly, and ensured safety, high quality and high efficiency of the project during the whole construction process. This was led by the life cycle cost management concept, supported by technological innovation and guided by the airport’s operation.

A more reasonable and effective arrangement of the tunnel contour and saving the underground resources are key issues for the current city rail transport construction. We constructed tunnels from Shanghai Metro Line 8’s Huangxing Park Station to Shiguang Road Station, which is 2,688 meters long. The shield started from the Huangxing green area, passing through Xiangyin Road Station and Nenjiang Road Station, and ended in Kailu Road Station. We used the double circle shield, with a diameter of 6.52 meters and a width of 11.12 meters to complete the task. Introducing this shield for the first time helped save the underground space, limit the environmental impact and reduce the construction cost.

Relying upon STEC’s outstanding R&D team, as well as manufacturing and management capabilities in shield equipment, we had a huge breakthrough on the double circle shield construction without precedence in China. We conquered major technical difficulties like double circle shield tunnel ground deformation control, tunnel axis control and tube sheet assembly, etc. and formed a relatively complete double circle shield construction technology, laying a solid foundation for the comprehensive promotion of this shield construction method.

As the established enterprise in domestic tunnel construction field, STEC participated in constructing the first tunnel in China, Shanghai Dapu Road Tunnel, which was the first underwater tunnel as well as the first tunnel using shield method in China. During the construction, STEC applied the 10.2-meter diameter long grid extrusion shield which is an unprecedented invention fully conceived by our own country for tunnel construction. We have made a construction miracle, which is “digging a hole in the toufu”, building the first-ever cross-river tunnel and unfolding a new era of shield method in tunnel building. Dapu Road Tunnel ends the isolation between Puxi and Pudong in Shanghai, also accelerating the development in Pudong. This project was given the National Science Award in 1978.

As Shanghai began to assist counterpart city Dujiangyan for the disaster rehabilitation work, some major infrastructure’s construction got under way. After helping to build over 8,300 prefabricated houses in Mianyang city, STEC began to assist Dujiangyan City immediately, supporting the building of two sewage treatment plants in Mount Qingcheng, Dujiangyan City. Dujiangyan Sewage Treatment Plant, located in Mount Qingcheng world cultural heritage site, is the first sewage treatment project in a scenic spot in Chengdu. The project consists of A and B sewage plants, plant A located at the sixth group, Daguan Town in Mount Qingcheng, Dujiangyan City, covering an area of 39.27mu while plant B located at the first group, Puyang town in Dujiangyan city, covering an area of 63.98mu. The project consists of prefabrication, biological treatment structures, affiliated facilities and partial sewage treatment project. On the design of sewage plant, with the professional help of the STEC’s design institute, we chose the best alternative. In terms of the construction, we selected the most talented staff to construct the sewage treatment plant, which became a quality project in the disaster area, and won unanimous compliments. After the establishment of the sewage treatment plant in Mount Qingcheng, its capability of treating sewage was 40,000 tons per day. The sewage after treatment meets the national highest discharge standard: Class A, Level 1, which can not only be used in agricultural irrigation and daily water supply, but also in breeding fish. This project once won the Mongolia Construction Award in Shanghai.

7.5m x 10.4m Large Cross-Section Rectangular Pipe Jacking Machine was applied in the Zhengzhou Zhongzhou Avenue Pipe Jacking Tunnel. This pipe jacking machine can cut full cross section with the diameter of 10.4m X 7.5m, the size of the cross section is the largest in the field of pipe jacking machine at home and abroad. Many various new technologies were formed, including the rectangular development machine technology of cutting full cross section combination of central cutter and off-center multi-spindle cutter (1 cutter + 4 off-center multi-spindle cutters); the first application of wireless monitoring and the technology of modularized quick switch over, which is simple and safe, and has long communication distance and extendibility, reducing the switching time. After experts study on research results, the main technology standard of the project has achieved the international advanced level.

The 12th-Five-Year Plan of Shanghai Gas Development, based on the development of the 11th-five-year plan, puts forward strategic thoughts, clear objectives and detailed tasks of gas development in the city and proposes safeguard measures. Through effective implementation of the plan, by the end of the ‘12th Five- Year’ plan, the artificial coal gas would exit smoothly, the scale of natural gas supply would reach 10 billion cubic meters, with the proportion in the primary energy consumption structure rising to 11%, the supply scale of liquefied petroleum gas would maintain at around 400 thousand tons per year and all the city's gas users would have more than 15 days’ supply in emergencies. This plan is a programmatic document of developing the gas industry in the city during the ‘12th Five-Year’ plan. We established the position and characteristics of our city, we think and plan our development of the gas industry based on the nationwide environment and has formed two part project achievements- ‘Preliminary Study on “12th Five-Year” Plan in Shanghai Gas industry’ and ‘Shanghai Gas Development 12th Five-Year Plan’, which has an important guiding role in promoting the regional joint development, realizing interconnection of natural gas trunk pipeline network in Yangtze Delta Region and establishing a national natural gas trading center.

Shanghai Urban Construction Building is located at the intersection of Wanping Road and Longhua Road with total area of 50,153 square meters, the above-ground building area of 26,542 square meters and underground building area of 23,611 square meters, which include ten floors above the ground and three floors under the ground. Under the design principle of “scientific planning, sound function, pleasant environment and quality project”, the project employs the layout of “two hearts in one tube”, namely, laying out two independent and vertical transportation hubs in one building to meet the demands of utilizing them separately and wholly. On the design of facade, it combines the contrasting glass ribbon windows and stone materials to visually increase the height of the building and changes of shadow and light and to strengthen the modern and stylish effects of the architecture. As the first attempt to build 5O office building types, compared with 5A office building in the market, this project lay more emphasis on ecology, environmental protection and comfort. Besides adopting hard rock wool as green thermal insulation materials on the external brick walls, we adopted techniques such energy exchange between indoor exhaust air and fresh air, and energy saving and indoor comfort through the introduction of such new technologies as “VRV intelligent central air-conditioner”, “carbon dioxide, indoor temperature and humidity monitoring system”, “the recycling of air thermal energy and fresh air system with variable frequency”. In addition, the indoor headroom was maintained at 2.8m, much higher than the typical headroom of 2.5 meters to 2.6 meters in business office buildings, to create a spacious atmosphere. Moreover, roof gardens on the top floors, the outdoor green trails and green ornaments in the sunken square further demonstrate the concept of ecological office buildings.

Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport, a large-scale civil airport in Guangdong Provincial Capital Guangzhou, is one of the three largest airports in China. As one of the earliest companies taking part in the construction of the new Baiyun Airport, STEC has constructed many projects, including overhead bridges on airport’s highway, earthwork and drainage work in the flight area, China’s first taxibridge, tarmac, parking lot, and the third runway, witnessing the Baiyun Airport turning into one of three largest airports in China. Amongst which the flight area bridge project was honored the Tien-yow Jeme Civil Engineering Prize, National Green Building Innovation Award, and Shanghai Infrastructure Golden Prize. After more than ten years’ efforts, we’ve constructed several star projects at the airport, which largely improved the airport’s overall management abilities. The third runway project for the airport’s expansion, is built to the highest global standard, meeting 4F class aircraft usage specifications and able to accommodate the largest passenger aircraft model A380. The third runway was put into use in February, 2015, marking Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport the third domestic airport to have three runways, after Beijing and Shanghai.

As the availability of urban underground space for development becomes lesser, planning and construction of metro line is severely constrained. Construction on Shanghai Metro Line 9’s section from Xujiahui Station to Zhaojiabang Rd. Station is a case in point. The tunnel is 1,105 meters long. Due to the space limits, the super-shallow shield has to pass over the metro line 1 without affecting its operation. The depth to the top is only 4.2-5.0 meters. In order to control the risk, and minimize the environmental impact, STEC adopted two earth pressure balanced shields, with diameter of 6.34 meters, which we designed and manufactured ourselves. Our most experienced and skilled management and construction team, successfully completed the task, through precise calculation and analysis of the tunnel’s deformation characteristics and how the super-shallow shield passes over tunnels in service, without using auxiliary measures such as foundation reinforcement which may affect the nearby environment. After calculation, the maximum settlement above the Hengshan Road is only 25 millimeters, and the maximum uplift amount of Shanghai Metro Line 1 is only 2.3 millimeters, so we have controlled the tunnel axis effectively within ± 50 mm.

Relying on our more than 20 years’ experience in rail transport construction, we are able to construct tunnel projects which are extremely difficult and high risk. We are capable of helping the city achieve the “impossible” construction dream.

As the sole vital transportation tunnel beneath the HuangPu River during the World EXPO, South Xizang Road Tunnel is 5,319.5 meters in length. During the construction, the first national large-scale slurry shield” Xiong Ying Second” designed by STEC was put into use, changing the dilemma of our thorough dependence of large-scale tunnel shield machinery on foreign countries, opening up a brand new way of nationalization in this field, filling the void of domestic large-scale slurry manufacture. Meanwhile, the large-diameter slurry shield also successfully conquered the global difficulty of passing through small-diameter metro tunnel, Shanghai Metro Line 8, which is in operation. This achievement has accomplished the new record of construction in rail transport, and is honored as the model project of the appliance of new technologies in national architecture industry.

The latest 11.83m*7.27m rectangular shield machine developed by STEC was adopted on the first phase of Ningbo Metro Line 3, which has the largest cross section in the field at home and abroad. This kind of rectangular shield machine pioneered the integrated bidding mode of “scientific research-design-construction”. Relying on rich experience in designing and constructing shield machines, STEC’s scientific research team succeeded in developing the “Yangming” shield machine, which was named after the master of mind study——Wang Yangming. We have also formed a close and efficient cooperative relationship with Ningbo Rail Transport Group by carrying out the project.

During the development of the rectangular shield machine, STEC adopted several innovative technologies. One is modular lay-out technology including two X-shape-interested circular cutters with multiaxial eccentric cutter system, perfectly solving the previous dead zone problem of rectangular shield machine excavating sections, and also has obvious advantages in economy and safety. This is suitable for cutting various unconventional cross sections. The second one is a control method and an algorithm to avoid the interference of two X-shape-interested circular cutters when revolving, ensuring the safety of the two cutters in operation. That’s because the partial overlapping of two X-crossing cutters’ swivel trajectory on the working surface causes interference of the two cutters thereby losing control and causing damage. The third one is multi-DOF tunnel plate assembling technology with column building functionality, implementing optimized path planning and high precision, collision-free tracking with compound motion technology, breeding a new solution for automatic tunnel place delivery processing. The fourth one is adopting the automatic articulated technology of heavy quasi-rectangular shield machine shape curve, which can make a R300m turn. There is no corresponding case in the rectangular shield machine field at home and abroad.

In the process of adjusting the energy structure in our country, one of the important measures is to speed up the development and utilization of LNG. As the forerunner of the LNG industry in China, STEC has undertook design and part of the construction work in the first, second and third phase of Hainan CNPC Shennan LNG storage project. The first phase includes two 20-thousand-cubic-meter single containment tanks and a 40-thousand-cubic-meter quay with annual transportation scale of 800 thousand tons. The second phase includes expanding one 80-thousand-cubic-meter all-inclusive storage tank with annual transportation scale of 1.2 million tons. The third phase includes expanding one 80-thousand-cubic-meter all-inclusive storage tank with annual transportation scale of 2 million tons. In terms of the design, STEC broke through the shackles of traditional pipeline design by entering into the high end area of low temperature refrigeration technology for the first time, which has far-reaching significance in accelerating the development of new energy and other emerging industries, such as LNG. As the supporting project of Hainan gasification and the first domestic LNG secondary receiving station, Hainan CNPC Shennan LNG storage project can receive, store and transport LNG. The natural gas stored is connected with natural gas pipeline network around the island of Hainan Province through transportation and pipeline distribution. This can not only thoroughly solve the ‘gas panic’ problem in Hainan but also distribute natural gas to the users inside and outside Hainan Province and therefore balance the upstream supply and the downstream market demand.

The Information Management System of Shanghai Hongqiao Integrated Transport Hub collates information about several transportations such as airport, high speed train, maglev, subway, highway, public transportation and taxi. STEC established a mathematical model to analyze and evaluate the passenger flow in the hub and a smart transport management system, which helped the hub to collect the transportation information from surrounding area, monitor, control signals, and direct cars and people. An all-round transport management system is informative, detailed, scientific, automatic and efficient throughout the whole process. As Asia’s largest transportation hub, Hongqiao Integrated Transport Hub sets an example for the information management system, which was given the third prize of Shanghai Scientific Progress Awards and first prize of a similar awards organized by China Highway and Transportation Society.

As the shields operate under the ground in the city center, it will inevitably affect the existing buildings and equipment. STEC has enormous experiences in ‘delicate operations’ in urban centers to meet the complex environment of urban rail transit rigor requirements like construction project risk, project’s quality, civilized construction and schedule control.

Tunnel of Shanghai Metro Line 11’s Xujiahui Station to Shanghai Stadium Station is located in Xuhui core business area, which is 1600 meters long in one way, passing through 23 heritage buildings like the Xuhui Middle School, and Xujiahui Catholic Church, and metro line 1 and 4 which are already in operation. Among which, five are super-grade heritage buildings, four are first-grade, four are second-grade and nine are third-grade historical buildings. The closest distance between the shield and Xujiahui Catholic Church is only 8 meters. Through a series of land subsidence control measures, we managed to keep the soil loss rate of the super-grade heritage buildings to 1.5 ‰ ~ 3 ‰, and the overall loss rate is controlled around 5 ‰ one month after the shield passing through. We make sure the safety of the building and subway deformation is also controlled. Meanwhile, thanks to good on-site management capabilities and innovative parties construction framework, we maintained a good relationship with the residents of the surrounding communities, facilities organizations, and shopping malls, alleviating any potential problems in the central business district.

Shanghai Outer Ring Tunnel is the key link crossing the Huangpu River as the northern part of Shanghai Outer Ring Road. It is also the first cross-river tunnel in Shanghai which is constructed by immersed tunneling method and is the largest scale in Asia. The immersed tunneling method was introduced to China in 1980s, so it marked the first time that STEC constructed immersed tunnel in such a big scale. The location of the construction is near the Yangtze River estuary. The tide variation brought high construction risk and difficulty. During the construction, STEC managed to sink enormous tabulation (9.55 meters high, 43 meters wide, 100 - 108 meters, weight of 45000 tons of each). We skillfully grasped the axis, elevation and mileage changes. We ensured that the construction quality reach the design precision under harsh conditions of high wind flow, ferocious back silting. By using satellite positioning system and 3D bathymetry technology, we overcame the water displacement difficulty of the pipe sinking construction and promoted immersed tunnel construction level in our country to an international advanced level.

Concrete recycling technique utilizes large quantities of industrial and construction waste during concrete production, such as concrete aggregate, mechanism sand, steel slag powder, FGD gypsum and fly ash, to replace 30%-50% gravel, river sand and cement. Tongji University and STEC started to develop the technique since 2006. During 2010 World Expo, recycled concrete was applied to the Shanghai Eco House in the UBPA, in co-operation with Shanghai Research Institute of Building Sciences Group. This project ranked top in the domestic construction and was close to the international standard. The technique was given the Shanghai Resource Comprehensive Utilizing Prize in 2011, and Shanghai Science and Technology Progress Award in 2013. The application of the concrete recycling technique established a high-efficient method to deal with mass industrial and construction waste with low energy consumption. This helps the city turn the waste into precious mineral resources.

Currently, STEC sets its own recycling aggregate production line and construction waste consumption spot to deal with the waste on site in large demolishing projects, or collect and handle the waste together for small-and-medium demolishing projects. Through establishing a city construction waste information cloud platform, we strive to build an industry chain cycle, synthesize collecting of concrete waste, producing and processing recycling aggregate, and green recycling concrete as one application.

Shanghai Tower is China's first and the world's third tallest building, with 118 floors in the main building with a total height of 632 meters. As its supporting project - Shanghai Tower Gas Drainage Pipe Project reaches 121 floors directly through pipelines, once again recreating the world's highest gas supply record, over Shanghai Global Financial Center. We undertook the design of the internal pipelines and the alarm system of Shanghai Tower and its gas installation project. In terms of the design, we added the automatic alarm and automatic cutting system into the gas system, which could ensure the gas source could be cut timely and effectively once gas leakage occurs, and prevent fire and explosion accidents to ensure gas safety. In construction, 150mm-diameter seamless steel pipe needed to be installed from the underground fourth floor to the top of Shanghai Tower, with only the diameter length up to 600 meters. The height of the pipeline construction is unprecedented. In addition, the settlement of the construction itself also brings some difficulties to the relatively static installation of natural gas pipeline. As the project is carried out in super high-rise building, safety issues are the primary factor. Therefore, before construction, we successfully overcame difficulties such as the gas pipe installation work high above the ground and multiplication of pipe bearing pressure, by comprehensively analyzing gas source, pressure, safety and geography factors. By arranging the bearing support and the telescopic compensator at the bottom of each gas vertical tube in Shanghai Tower, the total 6-ton-weight vertical tube in 120 floors with the diameter of 500 meters was properly dissipated. This has effectively solved the high construction pipeline deformation problem and ensured transmission security of natural gas with 4,000 cubic meters per hour. The smooth implementation of this project can further improve STEC’s high-rise gas construction and management standards and provide a reliable reference point for similar projects in the future.

Shanghai-Jiading Expressway is the first expressway in China, linking Qilianshan Road in northwestern Shanghai in the South and South Jiading Gate in the north. The total length is 20.5 kilometers. Two interchanges, Nanxiang and Malu, were built along the expressway, which were designed, constructed and maintained by STEC. In terms of its linear design, we introduced perspective inspection method to check the expressway’s route planning and its plane/longitudinal linear displacement. Eventually the design team came up with a road planning solution that matches greatly with the expressway environment that significantly improved the driving experience. The two diamond-shaped interchange along the Shanghai-Jiading Expressway has proved to be a solution to less land utilization and lower project cost. The upper structure of the interchange is built with pretensioning cored slab beam, combined box beam and post-tensioning T beam. To reduce the numbers of expansion joints and improve the runway’s flatness and bridge utility, the bridge surface adopted simple supported beam system with continuous slabs on the top, while the substructure adopts pier foundation. During the construction, we successfully solved the problem of building structures on the soft soil with the aid of the new research finding “setting up embankments on soft soil foundation” In addition, our findings of “fly ash as the filling material of expressway embankments” was given the 1st prize of Shanghai Science and Technology Progress Award and “simulations on expressway traffic system monitoring” was awarded the 2nd prize. In 2014, STEC finished the renovation of Shanghai-Jiading Expressway. This “phoenix nirvana” will surely bring new life to the expressway and grant users a more comfortable driving experience. The completion of Shanghai-Jiading Expressway marks the history of China’s first expressway.

STEC invested 13.45 billion yuan in constructing the first phase of the Jiangsu Nanjing Metro Line S1 Project (The Airport Line), which was carried out in the form of total integration. The airport line links Lukou International Airport in the south and Nanjing South Railway Station, which provided the most extensive coverage with the most complete investment and financing model in China.

As the earliest company to start the construction of urban rail transit system in the industry, we have professional knowledge and rich experience in rail financing, investing, designing, planning，civil engineering, mechanical electronics, operating and maintaining. During the construction of Nanjing Airport line, our professional construction team adopted several advanced construction technologies such as GPST and URUP. Guided by principles of strict quality control and construction safety, we cooperated with the best quality suppliers like China Railway Express and Hongrun, to develop a high-quality project. Thanks to our good credit resources, we incurred less financing cost to bring in Shanghai financial institutions. In order not to monopolize the local bank resources and loan amount, we extended the project financing period to 25 years, which greatly reduced the pressure on the local government to pay the money back. This also provides our client a one-stop service with the highest quality and lowest cost rail transit system.

Qianjiang Channel is constructed by STEC through BOT investment with 3.884 billion yuan. It is China's first large diameter shield tunnel project, integrating "investment, construction, operation and maintenance”.

In terms of investment and financing, STEC determined the financial services program and partners through bank bidding for the first time. By cooperating with the Bank of China, China Merchants Bank and Shanghai Pudong Development Bank, STEC raised comprehensive credit of 25.4 billion yuan in total, effectively reducing the overall cost of financing, distributing the pressure of funds from tight monetary policy to different banks. We avoided capital risk and ensured the capital is secured.

In terms of the construction, we successfully pushed 15.43 meters’ diameter large shield machine crossing the embankment foundation of the Ming Dynasty Qianjiang Levee for 4 times, overcoming the world-class difficulty to build express way tunnel in the special hydrological conditions of Qiantang River. In addition, Qianjiang Channel is the first batch of model construction project subsidized by the national budget from the central government which funds semiconductor lighting products application. The whole tunnel was equipped with LED light source illumination. It can save 2.47 million kwh each year compared to ordinary fluorescent lamp system. After the opening of the tunnel, STEC, as its operation and maintenance agent has formulated safety regulations, management system, and operation manual for the tunnel, thereby establishing a management system fitting for local project operation.

Desulfurization gypsum plaster mortar consists of mineral admixture, gypsum, glass beads, fine aggregate, water retaining agent, retarder, and other additives. It’s powder material mixed in a factory in certain proportion. The product has a good anti-crack protection effect, high cohesional strength, and good water retention. The product meets the Shanghai local standard of "Desulfurization Gypsum Plastering Mortar Application Regulations”. It’s the ideal and new green environmental-protection material for building’s interior wall leveling treatment, which can ensure a smooth wall, and prevent the wall from cracking and hollowing. The product has been successfully applied to the Pujiang Ruihe City Project, and Vanke Projects in Shanghai, Jiaxing, Ningbo, Suzhou, Wuxi, and Xuzhou. The construction area reached millions of square meters. The project was ratified by most clients, owners and contractors.

At present, we have a gypsum plaster mortar professional construction team of more than 650 people, equipped with professional construction management, quality management, safety management, and also 32 sets of German imported pulp shooting machines, which can fulfill the requirements of 8 to 10 large projects at the same time. 

Shanghai Inner Ring Road, also known as Shanghai Inner Ring, is the earliest elevated highway constructed in the city, and has a nickname of “Shanghai’s First Ring”. Stretching 47.7 meters, the highway consists of 49 continuous transition curves and straight lines, linking Pudong and Puxi through Nanpu Bridge and Yangpu Bridge. It functions as a protective shell for the city center traffic. The segment of Puxi and Pudong opened to the pubic in 1994 and 2009 separately. The highway has four lanes in both directions, with a speed limit at 80 km/h. Since the construction of the Inner Ring Road, STEC took charge of constructing, designing, renovating the Inner Ring Road and maintaining its Puxi segment. In 1993, STEC took on the task of the first-stage construction and co-designing work of the Inner Ring Road, which was” Shanghai municipal No.1 project”. For the second-stage, we were in charge of the construction and design of the southwestern segment. In terms of the design, we carried out a research with Tongji University about how Shanghai Inner Ring Road’s southwestern segment connect the main roads. The research results significantly impacted the layout of the entire ring road and created lots of new ideas and successful experiences for the later construction of the large interchange in city center. In the new century, we have undertaken the work of designing and renovating the Inner Ring Road’s Pudong segment. Finally, all of the Inner Ring Road was open to the public. We also participated in renovating the ring road, and paving the asphalt layer to welcome the Expo. We also changed the 29 km of street lamps along the Inner Ring Road in Puxi segment. The new street lamps used the LED energy-saving light, with low power consumption, high lighting efficiency, and long service life. The energy-saving efficiency is up to 50%. The light can also withstand Beaufort wind scale. On top of which we created an integrated portable working device with anti wall-bumping. The device looks like a box, in which workers can construct. It can sharply reduce the noise. The innovation also won a national patent. The 2A, first phase of Shanghai Inner Ring Road project constructed by STEC was given the Shanghai Magnolia Quality Project Award in 1993.

As the first urban rail transport construction company, STEC began the experimental project of Shanghai Metro Line 1 since 1966. In 1980, we undertook the test project of Shanghai Metro Line 1 expansion. We also completed the metro shield tunneling and tunnel lining structure selection, developed the high-precision reinforced concrete (RC) segments technology, underground diaphragm walls construction techniques, and a deep excavation technology, which were widely used in Shanghai Metro line 1 and line 2 projects later, thus reinforcing our leading position in tunnel and rail transport industries. Shanghai Metro Line 1 is a modern fast track running from north to south, across the city center. STEC constructed Line 1’s 10 stations, and 10 intervals, including Shanghai Railway Station, Caobao Rd Station, Shanghai Stadium Station, and the interval from Shanghai Stadium station to Xujiahui station, People's Square Station to Huangpi Rd Station. During the construction of Line 1, we introduced two 6.34 m diameter earth pressure balance shield manufactured by French FCB for drive-in, and also used a belt conveyor dump system for the first time.

A city’s culture and footprints lie in its history. STEC dedicates itself to providing more continual construction blueprints for the city; in ensuring the project’s smooth development, STEC will perpetuate the city culture and protect the cultural environment.

The Shanghai Bund Tunnel is known as the major project in solving the transportation problems in city center. It extends 3.3 kilometers in total length. STEC needs to first guarantee the transportation system in the Bund and the stability of the surrounding erections; then we try to push 14.27-meter diameter long earth pressure balance shield crossing the historic architecture groups along the Bund with precision. Since most of these buildings are over hundred years, there exists uneven degrees of subsidence, leaning and structure aging, which indicates that large-scale shield method for them is a major operation.

During the whole construction, STEC views the protection of historic constructions as the first priority; “FCEC shelter pile and slip casting reinforcement” protection method has been established after several negotiations and experiments on site. Finally, FECE shelter pie technology which takes more working periods is applied to crossing the Astor House Hotel, the minor distance of which is only 1.7 meters. As for other regions, specialized slip casting reinforcement technology is put into use. After the whole project, the subsidence of historic constructions is merely 5.3 millimeters at most and the upheaval of which is just 3.7 millimeters at most, which are far lower than the expected control index.

It is STEC’s advanced construction skills that bring about more options for the exploitation of underground space in city core areas and the improvement of city transportation. Just like the stable, secure and convenient projects we have completed in suburban areas, we can also successfully construct tunnel projects in the prosperous city center.

Shanghai West Xianxia Road Construction Project, located in Hongqiao Integrated Transport Hub, is not only an important part of the road construction work of Hongqiao Integrated Transport Hub but also the biggest single project in Hongqiao municipal supporting project. The total length of the road is 3.06 kilometers. The construction should pass through some affiliated parts of the airport, such as two taxiways in east and west, runway blast pads, runway signal lamp strip. As such, the requirement of the project is very demanding as it has to meet the ground deformation level of the airport. Through the upgrading and innovation in techniques and facilities, we have set a precedence for large slurry shields to cross under shallow soil of the airport runway, which is also the first underpass through the working airport runway in China. We have tackled the key problems by conducting a research “The Key Technology For Slurry Shield with Big Diameter to Pass under Shallow Soil of Airport Runway.” during the construction. We managed a series of innovative results, and won three patents, two software copyrights and a construction technology certification. The project was also given the 1st Prize of Shanghai Science and Technology Progress Award. In addition, the project was honored with several awards, including the 1st prize of National Quality Construction Project, the 3rd prize of National Outstanding Project, and the golden award of Shanghai Municipal Projects. The completion of West Xianxia road successfully optimized and improved the functions and layout of Hongqiao Integrated Transport Hub, coordinated and boosted the regional development and improved the transportation system.

Shanghai Metro Line 7 is 34.4 kilometers long. It has 28 stations, among which we constructed 9 stations, and 8 intervals. On the basis of applying advanced technology and lessons learned in domestic and abroad in urban subway construction, combining project characteristics and difficulties, we carried out autonomous innovation in overall design, construction technology, electrical and mechanical integration, energy saving, safety and environmental protection. In terms of the overall design, we suggest integrating network, humanity, science and environmental protection into metro stations, developing several metro stations and underground space together. We independently developed the new cut-and-cover method and pneumatic caisson construction technique. The subway tunnel shield construction uses the innovative micro-disturbing tunneling technology to go through service tunnel and building structures. The development and application of more than 20 scientific and technological achievements established our leading position in the rail transport industry. We also won the second prize of 2011 National Excellent Design Award, the third prize of 2006 Shanghai Outstanding Consulting Achievement Award and 2011 Shanghai Outstanding Design Award.

Hubei Wuhan Sanyang Road Tunnel will become the first massive-diameter cross river tunnel in the upper middle stream of Yangtze River and also the largest-diameter “railway and road co-construction” shield tunnel in China. The total length of the tunnel is 4.6 kilometers and STEC contracted two shield working wells, 2,590-meter long tunnel in the middle of the river and Wuchang working shield wells which are the hidden part of Xujiapeng Station and tunnels as well as major cables working as power substation and construction missions as ventilator room in Xujiapeng.

Wuhan Hubei Sanyang Road Tunnel is renowned as the largest diameter, the largest shield tunneling machine and the largest wind foundation nationwide. We employ two combined type 15.76-meter-long diameter slurry balance shield machines, which are the largest in China, in the middle of river as well as big tunnel part in the process of erection. The outer diameter will reach 15.2 meters after its completion; as for the subway part of the whole tunneling erection, we adopt an earth pressure balance shield machine to excavate. During the entire construction process, we succeeded in the nearly 2.6-meter long distance excavation and the shortest distance of 0.5-meter minor distance construction and shooting construction by virtue of accumulated rich experience in massive-diameter shield constructing. What’s more, we even bypassed the barriers of changing the working tools under the circumstances of shield machines in high-water pressure tunnels. With the rapid development of our city construction, the method of “railway and road co-construction” has gradually become an efficient way to make the best use of underground space resources. STEC’s working performance in the first ever largest-diameter “railway and road co-construction” has proved our technical strength again and also offered a model example for the coming “railway and road co-construction” in China.

Shanghai East China Sea Bridge is the first sea-crossing bridge in mainland China. Its total length is 32.5 kilometers, including 27 kilometers over the sea. STEC constructed the bridge, and is in charge of maintenance. While building this grand bridge, many advanced technologies were used. STEC’s technical staff overcame problems of anticorrosion, fabricating and installing huge concrete box girder, and GPS positioning. These technologies became the standard of building the long-span bridge. Shanghai East China Sea Bridge created many miracles. The 32.5 kilometers length makes it the longest sea-crossing bridge in the world. The two bridge towers are 159 meters’ high, which are the highest in domestic offshore cable-stayed bridge. There is 1.22 kilometers of deep sea dike between the Zhushan Island and the Big Turtle Island. This is also a breakthrough in bridge-building technology. The biggest wonder is the building speed. We used highly efficient construction techniques to overcome the severe situation in open sea, and finished the project within 3 years. As a pioneer of building long sea-crossing bridge, the project’s experience has been practiced widely on building the Hangzhou Bay Bridge and the Qingdao Bay Bridge. The opening of the Shanghai East China Sea Bridge started the building Yangshan deepwater port and speeding up the development of Shanghai international shipping center.

Shanghai Minpu Second Bridge’s span is the longest one among the rail joint double-deck cable-stayed bridge with one tower in China. The total length of main bridge is 436.65 meters, and its top deck is road while the other lower deck is two-way light rail. STCE undertook its design and maintenance. Due to the bold design of the Minpu Second Bridge, many breakthroughs were achieved. A cargo ship with 3,000 tons’ load can go through the main hole safely even if it encountered the highest navigable water level once in every 300 years. The main pier is in the center of the river, constructed by fully welded steel truss plate beam structure. The main tower has two cable planes. The 251.4 meters’ span makes the bridge the longest span bridge with a single tower and one cable plane. This bridge also used new type of bridge pier in the form of the Chinese character 干, which was the first time in China. This design not only overcame land space restrictions, but also solved the problem of poor view while navigating, which was previously built in the form of the Chinese character 门. What’s more, we carried out experiments on seismic performance, and worked out the rules of typical single column and double deck bridge when encountering earthquake. This provided experience to build rail joint double-deck cable-stayed bridge. Shanghai MinPu Second Bridge takes a vital role in the development of Fengxian district, which attracts more investors to come. It also shortens the traffic time between Fengxian and Shanghai city center.

Jiangsu Changzhou Elevated Highway, 57.45 km in length, is the first elevated highway in Changzhou, crossing over four new and old canal bridges and two Beijing-Shanghai railway bridges. To build the elevated highway on the basis of high standards, high demands and high tastes, we adopted the most advanced fish-bellied circular arc box beam in designing the box beam of the highway. It has the advantages of good overall performance, large torsion rigidity, and large span capacity. The normal pier adopted H-shaped column, which is not only delicate in appearance, but also clear and bright from watching under the bridge. We have positively adopted various energy-saving and green technologies. In terms of energy-saving, we installed embedded low-glare freeway ramp illumination system, which efficiently tackled problems of controlling glare, enhancing illumination level and evenness. It is the first time the system is widely used in China. In terms of land-saving, H-shaped and Y-shaped columns were adopted to save land. The deck space is 784,338 square meters, but the column occupation area is only about 5%. Other spaces were all designed for traffic lanes. We also introduced integrated smart traffic monitoring system by applying computing core technology, information technology, image transmission technology, and fiber optic network, to help drivers as well as the maintenance management unit know the real-time traffic condition through electronic screens. This project achieved a new high standard in terms of the investment scale, technological innovation, digital system, and modernized management. It was awarded the 1st prize and silver prize of National Outstanding Engineering Investigation Design. It was also given the China Construction Engineering Luban Award, and named as Jiangsu Province Model Construction Site and Jiangsu Quality Project.

Shanghai Yangtze River Bridge is the biggest rail joint cable-stayed bridge in the world, called “The First Bridge in Yangtze”. Its total length is 16.63 kilometers, and the main navigational hole’s diameter is 730 meters. STEC contracted, designed and built this bridge. We also undertook the daily maintenance. As one of the designers, we cooperated with Shanghai Municipal Engineering Design and Research Institute, bearing in mind the theory of “Design for Users”. We did our best to create and optimize every detail in order to unleash aesthetic value at the same time achieving transportation function. We reserved railway space and kept pace with six traffic lanes in both directions, which is the first case in the world. The main tower is 212 meters high without beam, which is the first case in China. In other words, when building this bridge, we tried new skills and techniques, realizing the perfect combination of strength and beauty. What’s more, the whole line of the bridge was designed into a shape of “S” considering its influence to water flow, and functional requirements. The “S” shape also meets the need of beauty and environmental protection. Based on these creative theories, we forged several word-leading skills which were used in bridge building for the first time. For one thing, the cable-stayed bridge, whose main span is 730 meters in length, used new separated steel box girder. For another, there are 700 meters high pier area that used a series of combining box-girder bridge whose main span is 105 meters. The project of fabricating the whole hole in advance is also a new practice. Asphalt on the bridge floor is only 4 centimeters, so its deadweight is light. We used Germany MOBA MaticII as the method of controlling the evenness. We also researched for long-lasting asphalt, and overcame the influence of marine climate to the bridge floor, in this case, we can ensure the quality. Shanghai Yangtze River Bridge fixed the situation of over a thousand years, there was no road pavement from Chongming Island to the mainland.
